Upload a File, Go to Prison. Two congressmen introduce a bill to criminalize the uploading of copyright works to peer-to-peer networks. The penalty: five years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Critics say the law goes too far. By Katie Dean. [Wired News]

OK, let me get this straight:  you upload a song on a P2P network and cheat some record company out of $1 worth of content and you get 5 years in the Federal Pen; you cheat thousands or hundreds of thousands of people out of BILLIONS of $$ (a la Enron/Worldcom/Tyco/<insert corrupt corporation here>) and you either get away totally clean (most likely outcome) or get the same 5 years in the Pen.  I'm glad to see that we're focused on the issues that really matter.
