10 days to go

A 4-0 away win in Lithuania. Not a bad start to this year's European campaign. And some goals for the youngsters with both Shaun Maloney and Liam Miller getting on the scoresheet. And another kid with some sort of Scandinavian name got his first goal of the season too.

 United
One of the most surprising close season stories I have read is that Livingston are to become a feeder club for Manchester United. Now we know where Beckham's replacement is coming from. All that Ronaldinho business was obviously just another cunning Alex Ferguson smokescreen as he moved in on Almondvale's endless supply of raw talent.

Apparently the deal means

promising youngsters at United being sent to the West Lothian club for first-team experience, whilst the Premiership champions are alerted to promising talent at Almondvale

  A tribute

Tragically missing from tonight's game against Celtic was Kaunas' leading scorer Audrius Slekys who sadly died in a car accident days before the game.
Mmm - I can't see there being too many long distance calls to Manchester from Almondvale's payphone. Maybe a few spoilt brats being dragged up to the frozen north though.

 United
In another surprise, I see that my old school friend Davey Jeffrey has signed up Paul Dalglish (son of an entertainer) to play for Linfield. No doubt with a gun held to his head (please note: this is just a figure of speech), Paul was quoted as saying:

I've been told all about the tradition of Linfield, and a lot of people recommended the club to me.

He must have been speaking to Neil Lennon then.
