5 days to go
You wouldn't think they won the league last year. Because Rangers seem to be more active in this summer's transfer market than anyone else.
First, Amoruso - the only man who could make John Hartson look like Jinky Johnstone - went to Graeme Souness' Blackburn. And now Neil McCann is off to Gordon Strachan's Southampton. And there are plenty heading in to Ibrox as well - both confirmed and rumoured. These include pensioner Henning Berg who may be the only man who could make Amoruso look fast.
And all this from a club with worse debts than Mike Tyson.

So Jim Leishman has returned to Dunfermline after a highly successful time at Livingston. Leishman and Jimmy Calderwood should make a formidable management team at East End Park, providing they don't fall out that is. The final straw for Leishman in deciding to leave Almondvale was the news that Livingston is to become a feeder club for Man Utd. He felt that having to coax, train and foster Alex Ferguson would be a job from hell.

| Aiming high |
Partick Thistle have betrayed their lack of ambition by declaring that their aim for this season is to avoid relegation. With an average home attendance of less than 6,000 and an income to match, I suppose they are just being realistic. But haven't they ever heard of fairy stories. I mean, look at Lorenzo Amoruso, once a second rate Italian league no-hoper and now treading the boards in Blackburn panto.
