Saints storm into semis

Aaron Hamill"St Kilda has set up a Wizard Cup semi-final showdown with Essendon after an effortless 62-point win over Richmond at Telstra Dome. The precocious Saints were at their very best against a Richmond side, which lacked the class to match their opposition.

On the back of a powerful forward line performance, St Kilda led by 25 points at the first change and rarely looked like being headed from that point, eventually winning 2.15.11 (119) to 1.7.6 (57)." [more]

FOX SPORTS | Saints cruise into Wizard semis

"St Kilda 2.15.11 (119) Richmond 1.7.6 (57) ST KILDA will meet Essendon in the AFL Wizard Cup semi-finals next Saturday night after a comfortable 62-point win over Richmond at Telstra Dome today. The Saints, rich in developing talent, seized the initiative early in the match and thereafter held the Tigers at arms length throughout. St Kilda jumped the Tigers early, showing more polish in their forward movements, to lead by 20 points inside eight minutes, and with Fraser Gehring kicking three goals, established a 25-point lead at the first change." Saints in the Wizard spotlight

Brent GuerraSt Kilda has powered into the semi-finals of the Wizard Home Loans Cup on the back of a potent forward line which looks capable of troubling just about every AFL side this season.

The Saints sheer number of attacking options overwhelmed Richmond in Sunday night's quarter-final to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with Essendon next Saturday night. [more]

Saints run all over the tigers

The saints beat the tigers pretty easily this evening -- 119 to 57 points.

That's a pretty good result -- pity I cant see it on the telly until midnight tonight

A Once in 4 years day

Today is February 29, the day that comes once every 4 years.

Scottish tradition has it that on February 29 a woman has the right to propose marriage to any man she likes - and if the would-be husband refuses, he's liable to a £100 fine. [more]

But for us Arrigo boys who are enjoying a weekend alone without the little ones, we are going to celebrate with a sleep-in, some DVD watching and lunch at a local Hog's Breath Cafe. It cant get better than this if you are 10 years old!!

Kasprowicz bags five wickets as Aussies wrap up series - Cricket -
Go Aussies!!!

Michael Kasprowicz took his best haul in one-day cricket as Australia beat Sri Lanka by 40 runs in the fourth match of their series at Colombo's Premadasa Stadium today. Australia has an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series with the last match to be played on Sunday at Colombo's Sinhalese Sports Club. Man-of-the-match Kasprowicz took 5-45, easily his best in Australian colours, as the tourists bowled out Sri Lanka for 193 in 43.4 overs. Adam Gilchrist took six catches to equal his own world record for the most catches in a match. It's the third time he's taken six catches - a feat also achieved by England's Alec Stewart. more

My email to

I'm still angry about the crappy tv scheduling for the upcoming wizard cup game this weekend. I was inspired to write an email to foxfooty.

Here it is:

Subject: I'm disappointed

dear foxfooty
all i can say is you guys suck!
2 weeks in a row you are showing the stkilda game at close to midnight - over 6 hours delayed
i live in nsw and am a stkilda member and feel i am being discriminated against. why such shabby scheduling???
surely its not because channel 10 has to show it first - they have the game on even later
from the website  : Week Two TV Schedule

Sunday (N)

FTA – Channel 10

Broadcast Time

St Kilda v Richmond

23:45 (Del – 6 hrs 35 mins)

PAY - Foxtel

Broadcast Time

St Kilda v Richmond

23:30 (Del - 6 hrs 20 mins)

is this going to be the case during the season proper too?? how disappointing
frank arrigo

I wonder if I will get a response?????

Cam was Robbed!

I didnt see Cameron Reilly in the office on Friday, and when I read his blog I knew why - he was robbed Friday morning.

It just sucks when this happens - I remember when my car was broken into one Sunday afternoon in Leichhardt. All I had stolen was a bunch of CDs - but I had been careless keeping track of them, so I don't really know how many or which specific titles were stolen -- Do'H!

The other big loss that Cameron talks about is the video of his kids -- this stuff is irreplaceable. All I can suggest is go create some more memories!

I got the book!!!

So, I admit it, I am a footy tragic.

A few weeks back I whinged about not being able to get my hands on the AFL 2004 Statistics book.

Well, thanks to a few contributing factoring factors, I found myself in Melbourne this week and I was able to purchase this book.

I can't believe it is so hard for those of us not fortunate enough to live in Melbourne. It's that mypoic thinking that is not allowing this to be a national football code, as far as I am concerned. And another thing, my team is again being show on the telly at 11.30PM on Sunday night AGAIN on Channel 10 and Fox Footy - this is just crap. So it's live on the telly into Melbourne - big deal. Show it at a reasonable time in NSW for goodness sakes - not like there are other games competing for attention.

Adventures with Orkut

So, its been 2 weeks since I started with Orkut, and a few things have changed since my last update.

These are the stats: I am connected to 39457 people through 34 friends, and I have another 20 people who I have invited, but who haven't responded.

I've noticed that a bunch of invites I sent last week have just gotten through, so I expect there is lots of email backed up.

Some other stats: profile views: 126, average path: 3.7, number of friends: 55. These are interesting, but there should be some other pieces of data, like number of degress to orkut himself.

I can see the communities and bulletin boards, but i would like to see more - like suggestion people who are similar, suggestion communities to join, even recommending music, movies or books based on interests, etc. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Saints hold on for win

Lenny Hayes Good start to the pre-season by the sainters .

I haven't seen the game because those rocket scientists that program these sort of things have the game starting at 11.30pm on Fox Footy and on 12.10am on Channel 10. It will be one for the vcr to capture.

Next week, the boys meet the Tigers on Sunday afternoon -- I wonder if I will get to see that live?

Star Wars on DVD

Got a fantastic piece of news in the email today..... Woohoo!

The most requested films for the DVD format will finally become a reality this September as Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox present the eagerly-awaited Star Wars Trilogy for the ultimate home entertainment format. The four-disc collection will be released on September 21 in the U.S. and Canada, with international release dates following closely.

"We know how long fans have waited for this release and how much they have been looking forward to it, so everyone has been working overtime to make sure that the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is an awesome experience," said Jim Ward, Vice President of Marketing and Distribution for Lucasfilm Ltd. and the DVD collection's Executive Producer.

Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi will be available in a four-disc set that includes a bonus disc filled with all-new special features -- including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced about the Star Wars saga and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films. Each of the three films in the Star Wars Trilogy has been digitally restored and re-mastered by THX for superior sound and picture quality.

"First and foremost, the DVDs will deliver the very best possible sound and picture and take advantage of everything the medium can offer. On top of that, we are creating added-value material that gets inside the creation of the Star Wars films in a fresh and fun way," Ward said. "We want watching this DVD collection to be as memorable as seeing the movies for the first time."

The films of the Star Wars Trilogy will be available exclusively as a collection and will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX. All three films are closed-captioned and subtitled in English, French and Spanish in the U.S. Internationally, sound and subtitling specifications will vary by territory.

Keep checking over the coming months for more specific details about the content of this must-own DVD set.

Footy's bible - AFL 2004 on sale again

I saw that headline on and I was sooo excited. I love that book and have purchased it every year. However, it has never been an easy task, since I live in Sydney and this book doesn't cross the Murray as quickly as we would like.

So each year, I try to work out ways to buy it -- via mailorder, or I beg my sister to get for me and send it up, or I beg my work colleagues in Melbourne. I even aranged a work trip to Melbourne so that I could buy it when I was down there. I tell you, it isn't easy!

I go to online retailers like Dymocks or Angus & Robertsons or Collins Bookstore and they dont even have it listed! At least QBDBookstore has a listing but they arent shipping until March! I have even tracked down the book on the publishers website, because I know it's ISBN number 0958030057, but still I can't buy it.

What is wrong with the country when a fellow can't even buy a stinking book when he wants one!!!!!

Timeline - the movie

After reading Timeline, I was really looking forward to the movie.

I took Antony to see it on Friday evening at Macquarie

It is tough to summarise a book with such rich narrative into less than 2 hours and this movie is living proof of that. It had the elements of the story, but none of the interesting bits. And the casting was pretty poor. The character of Chris Johnston was played by Paul Walker - this dude can't act! And the character of André Marek was played by Mick Molloy look-alike Gerard Butler.

All in all, a pretty B-Grade movie and Kerry agrees.
