Greetings Fan Club Member!

Well, did you see the last episode of SBS’s hit show Nerds FC? How’d you

think the boys went? You won’t be surprised to hear that the lads are

starting to focus on the big match – they’re getting more and more serious

about their training and stamina levels. Allow me to tell you a few secrets

only clever people like yourself - who’ve joined the Nerds FC Fan Club and

who therefore get access to these newsletters – will get to hear. Ordinary

people won’t know this stuff just from watching the show:

- The match was played at the Marconi Stadium, 40 kms west of Sydney. Both

Andy and Milan had played there for a number of years as players and lots

of the ground staff knew them from those days.

- David was given a goalkeepers crash course by Jim Fraser – Sydney FC’s

goalkeeping coach who also has his own goalkeeping academy.

- Pierre Littbarski, Sydney FC’s coach knew about Nerds FC because his

friend and fellow former international Lothar Mattäus coached the German

version of the show (which, over there, was called Borussia Banana)

Okay, I can hear coach Andy Harper calling my name (well bellowing it

actually which means I’ve probably parked in his space or something) so

that’s all I’ve got time for. Thanks for reading this far, I’ll be in touch

again very soon.

Yours in football,

FOX Footy Channel Program Listings 30th May ? 5th June 2006 NSW only

Let's forget about the bad news today and look ahead to the next round, when the Saints meet the Demons at the MCG on Sunday. That's 3 sunday games in a row.

Sorry BB, but your boys are going down this week! (and I'm open to a wager too)

The coverage on the telly is poor again. I've gotta wait until Sunday evening for the replay, so I'll turn to the live radio stream (unfortunately 3AW is covering the game!)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello again,

Hope you saw the last episode of SBS’s brilliant series Nerds FC. Who did

you think looked the best after the transformation? As you saw, all the

boys’ families were pleasantly surprised – some more so than others but a

couple of other things you might not know from just watching the show:

- Phillip – Also Known As `Mono’ was offered the chance to become `Duo’ by

Suzanne the stylist as part of his makeover. She’d booked a session with a

waxing lady to work on Phillip’s eyebrow  but he said he was happy with it

the way it was which Suzanne thought was fair enough….so he’s still Mono.

- The boys attracted a lot of attention when they walked down the red

carpet that had been put down for them in Sydney’s Circular Quay – there

was much rubber-necking by members of the public who couldn’t work out

whether they were movie stars, rock stars or what they were.

- Customers can only stay in the ice bar Minus 5 for half an hour partly

because the temperature is so intense and partly because there’s a queue of

people waiting to go in.

Okay, the final whistle’s blowing on this week’s newsletter. There’s more

to come however so stay on-side and I’ll be in touch.

Yours in football,

Billy and his Rugby Adventures

So, Billy's been playing Rugby Union for 3 weeks, for Knox Under 13E

The results so far are showing a disturbung trend.

Date Team Score Knox Score Opposition Result
06/05/06/ Oak Hill/Central Coast 26 52 Loss
13/05/06/ Shore 0 72 Loss
20/05/06/ St Ignatius (Riverview) 0 105 Loss

The team is learning how to play the game - obviously.

BTW - I keep bumping into Peter Fitzsimons (ex-Rugby Union International, best selling author, columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald, breakfast radio host AND one of the judges for the Office 2007 Aussie Words Search). He has a son who plays in Billy's team. Maybe I should ask Peter for a few pointers on the finer aspects of the game??

Mr MOHAMMED NASSER sends me a note

I got this in my inbox today. Mr Mohammed Nasser needs my help! I think I may have to pass this time around

FROM Mr MOHAMMED NASSER
STANDARD TRUST BANK OF BENIN
REPUBLIC OF BENIN.
WEST AFRICA.

DEAR FRIEND

I am MR MOHAMMED NASSER, the director in charge of auditing and accounting section of Standard trust bank of Benin cotonou Republic of Benin in West Africa with due respect and regard. I have decided to contact you on a business transaction that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of the transaction.

During our investigation and auditing in this bank,my department came across a very huge sum of money belonging to a deceased person who died in (beirut-bound charter jet) plane crash on the 25th December 2003 here in cotonou (replublic of benin) and since his untimely death the funds has been dormant in his account with this Bank without any claim of the fund in our custody either from his family or relation before our discovery to thisdevelopment.(http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/africa/12/26/benin.crash/index.html).

Although personally, I keep this information secret within myself and partners to enable the whole plans and idea be Profitable and successful during the time of execution. The said amount was US$24.1M(Twenty Four million One Hundred Thousand united states dollars)As it may interest you to know, I got your impressive information through my a friends who works with the Ministry of Information here in Cotonou-Benin. It is him who recommended your person to me to be viable and capable to champion a business of such magnitude without any problem .

Meanwhile all the whole arrangement to put claim over this fund as the bonafide next of kin to the deceased, get the required approval and transfer this money to a foreign account has been put in place and directives and needed information will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your interest and willingness to assist us and also benefit yourself to this great business opportunity.

In fact I could have done this deal alone but because of my position in this country as a civil servant,we are not allowed to operate a foreign account and would eventually raise an eye brow on my side during the time of transfer because I work in this bank. This is the actual reason why it will require a second party or fellow who will forward claims as the next of kin to the Bank and also present a foreign account where he will need the money to be re-transferred into on his request as it may be after due verification and clarification by the correspondent branch of the bank where the whole money will be remitted from to your own designated bank account.

May I at this point emphasize that this transaction is 100% risk free as I have made arrangements for a successful arrangement as an insider of the bank before contacting you. MC LARS : Download This Song

Gotta love this guy!

Of course, he's on myspace. Where else would a Post Punk Laptop Rap musician hangout!

The lyrics to "Download This Song" are simply outstanding - a manifesto for the future of the music industry!!!

Download This Song

It's 2006, the consumer’s still pissed
Won't take it anymore so I’m writing a list
Don't try to resist this paradigm shift
The music revolution cannot be dismissed
$18.98 Iggy Pop CD?
What if I can get it from my sister for free?
It’s all about marketing Clive Davis, see?
If fans buy the shirt then they get the mp3
Music was a product now it is a service
Major record labels why are you trying to hurt us?
Epic’s up in my face like, “Don’t steal our songs Lars,”
While Sony sells the burners that are burning CD-R’s
So Warner, EMI, hear me clearly
Universal Music, update your circuitry
They sue little kids downloading hit songs
They think that makes sense
When they know that it’s wrong!
CHORUS
Hey Mr. Record Man
The joke’s on you
Running your label
Like it was 1992
Hey Mr. Record Man,
Your system can’t compete
It’s the New Artist Model
File transfer complete
Download this song!
Download this song!
Download this song!
I know I'm rhyming fast, but the message is clear
You don’t need a million dollars to launch a career
If your style is unique and you practice what you preach
Minor Threat and Jello both have things to teach!
I've got G5 production, concept videos
Touring with a laptop, rocking packed shows
The old-school major deal? It makes no sense
Indentured servitude, the costs are too immense!
Their finger’s in the dam but the crack keeps on growing
Can’t sell bottled water when it’s freely flowing
Record sales slipping, down 8 percent
Increased download sales, you can't prevent
Satellite radio and video games
Changed the terrain, it will never be same
Did you know in ten years labels won't exist?
Goodbye DVD’s, and compact disks!
REPEAT CHORUS
You know, we just wanted a level playing field.
You’ve overcharged us for music for years, and now we’re
Just trying to find a fair balance. I hate to say it, but…
Welcome to the future.
REPEAT CHORUS

Round 7 Ponderings from AFL.COM.AU

Man, the folks at AFL.COM.AU like to bag the saints. Look at their recent ponderings from Round 7

2. Worrying times for Saints

For the past couple of years it has almost been assumed that it was only a matter of time before the Saints made a grand final and won a premiership given the talent at its disposal after years of shrewd drafting.

But in light of another disappointing loss on Friday night, at the hands of Geelong, the question that has to be asked is “Is the Saints’ window of opportunity to win a premiership beginning to slip away?”

After two years of bowing out in the preliminary final, the Saints have actually lost more games than they have won after seven rounds of the season and are not even in the top eight with nearly a third of the season gone – yet alone in the top four where they surely need to finish if they are to win a premiership.

The Saints clearly have their problems and chief amongst them is their lack of quality ruckmen – a problem which has been exposed even more by the continued injury problems that have beset star big man Justin Koschitzke.

While the commitment of Cain Ackland and Jason Blake cannot be questioned, they lack the height, strength and class to match it with the league’s best ruckmen – as was brutally exposed by Geelong pair Steven King and Brad Ottens on Friday night.

The loss of Aaron Hamill for up to six weeks with a knee injury, coming on top of the loss already of Koschitzke for a similar amount of time with a fractured skull, will put even more pressure on Nick Riewoldt in attack and it’s a burden he may not be able to handle because of his poor kicking for goal (see below).

That in turn puts even more pressure on Fraser Gehrig to kick goals but Gehrig is in the latter stages of his career and remains one of the AFL’s more unpredictable players.

Similarly in midfield the Saints appear to lack pace and the injury problems afflicting new skipper Luke Ball have hardly helped and it was a worrying sight seeing the gallant young midfielder barely able to get to his feet in the rooms after the game on Friday night due to the extent of his groin problems.

With Ball struggling, it has robbed the Saints of much of their hardness in midfield and again puts too much pressure on a veteran player in 34-year-old Robert Harvey, whose days of carrying the Saints’ midfield should be over.

It all adds up to worrying times for long-suffering Saints’ fans and if the club cannot recover and get its premiership ambitions back on track this season, it may be that the club’s best chance of a first premiership since 1966 will have come to an end – particularly with the irreplaceable Harvey expected to retire at season’s end.

But Wait, There's More

Villain of the week: NICK RIEWOLDT (St Kilda)

Riewoldt is increasingly starting to look like a flawed genius as it becomes increasingly evident that he has problems converting set shot goals under pressure.

The star Saint, one of the best marks in the AFL, just undoes too much of his good work through poor kicking for goal and last year he actually kicked more behinds (36) than goals (33) for the season.

And on Friday night his inability to convert set shots under pressure may have cost St Kilda victory when he marked just 20 metres from goal with the Saints having closed to within 14 points of a Cats side that was vulnerable considering it had lost four games in a row.

With about 10 minutes still to go, a goal would have put the Saints only eight points down and with the momentum they had, Grant Thomas’ side could well have steamrolled over the top of the Cats.

But Riewoldt’s miss immediately lifted the pressure off the Cats, who then went down the other end to seal victory through a Kane Tenace goal and it was of little consolation to the Saints that Riewoldt’s next shot at goal went straight through the middle from a set shot after the final siren had sounded and the pressure was off.

The sad news is that I can't really argue with these comments

Disappointing result on the weekend. Let's look forward.

I am so delighted - I have a LIVE game this Sunday, when the Saints meet the Blues. I have many memories of being slaughtered by the Blues in the 80s. I hope the Saints continue the winning run against them

Hello again,
Welcome to another sneak peak behind the scenes of the last episode of
SBS’s smash hit series Nerds FC that’s for your eyes only.
Did you know that the previous Pope (John Paul II) was a pretty
accomplished goal keeper in his youth? Dunno if Trent’s got any aspirations
towards the church but he’d be in good company if he wanted to. But you
don’t want to hear me prattle on about Popes – you joined the fan club to
be part of the Nerds FC experience and to learn some extra stuff that
didn’t make the program, didn’t you? Well, here it is fact fans, some stuff
that non members will only get to know if you tell them:
- The boys spent 3 days camping in Kangaroo Valley, 2 hours south of Sydney
for their man course. Banks and other corporate groups are normally the
type of clients Bob the Man Expert gets but he treated the Nerds FC team
exactly like he would any other group.
- There was just one chemical toilet for the whole group. The person who
used it the most (and co-incidentally disliked it the most) was Phillip.
- It was discovered that the Nerds FC bus on the way home from Kangaroo
Valley carried one more passenger than it brought there: Tim discovered
he’d picked up a leech during the course. You’ll be pleased to know that
Tim was uninjured. The leech, however, was already dead.
That’s all for the time being but there’s heaps more I can tell you and I
will over the next few weeks.
Finally, congratulations to all our lucky Nerds FC Fan Club winners for the
past two weeks: Deborah Muchamore, Susan Gorton, Rachie Gray and Mark
Barnier will all be watching high-quality TV on their new Centrex Digital
Set-top boxes. Marian Stoney and Jeffrey Stanyer will be the envy of their
friends winning an authentic football used by Nerds FC. Good luck to
everyone for this week's draw!

Hi there,
Welcome to another exclusive newsletter that?s just for members of the
Nerds FC Fan Club. How?d you like the show? Some of the opposition looked
pretty mean, don?t you think? Well, I have to tell you, I was there and if
it wasn?t for the uniforms and surroundings, if you met any of those blokes
outside the prison and didn?t know anything of their history, you?d think
they were the nicest fellas you could meet.
Other stuff about that episode you might like to know:

- The match was played just outside Windsor, an hour north-west of Sydney
and the 30 degree temperature the game was played in only added to the
boys? nerves.
- The program-makers wanted to give the opposition a Nerds FC t-shirt as a
memento of the game. The prison authorities okayed it ? so the t-shirts
were put with the prisoners? other private belongings which they?ll get
when they get out ?.. which for some of the blokes won?t be for a while.
- I?m not saying the prisoners were tough but I watched them training in
the gym before the game. They were using the standard equipment you get in
any gyms ? you know the ones where you put the pin in the pile of weights
at one end and try to pull/lift or whatever. These guys were putting the
pin in the lowest weight and lifting the whole lot. One guy even got one of
his mates to stand on the weights and he lifted the whole thing.
Have a think about all that and I?ll be in touch with you soon.
Yours in football,

Hello again,

Just checking you know that the next instalment of SBS’s great series Nerds

FC is on this Friday night at 7.30pm – and believe me, it’s a ripper! Can’t

say too much about it yet but I was fortunate to go along for the filming

and it really affected me.

If you’re enjoying the series so far, you’re in good company – word is that

the show is as popular as a John Farnham record at a Nana’s disco.

Anyway, don’t take my word for it – watch Nerds FC this Friday May 5, SBS

at 7.30. You won’t regret it.

Oh, congratulations to our three very lucky winners from last week's draw:

Jeremy Brown and Matthew Morgan each won a brand-spanking new Centrex

Sigital Set-top Box and Peter Kennelly will be kicking goals with his

Nerds-approved football!

Talk to you soon.

Hello,

I hope you enjoyed Episode 3 of SBS?s breakout hit Nerds FC. Word is that

Guus Hiddink has asked to see tapes of the show: not sure whether he?s

doing some last minute talent-spotting or if he just wants a laugh ??

Anyway, are you still humming the Nerds FC anthem? A lot of people round

here are, in spite of themselves. It?s that kind of song.

Now, what the millions of viewers who watched that episode won?t know

(unless, like yourself, they?re wise enough to have joined the Nerds FC Fan

Club) is that:

- The boys recorded their anthem at 301 Studios in Sydney. Other people who

have recorded in those studios include Missy Higgins, Elton John,

Powderfinger and Silverchair.

- While waiting to be filmed, the boys were fooling around with a grand

piano that was in the audition studio and Phillip Lathourakis demonstrated

that he is an awesome piano player.

- Coach Andy Harper recorded a team song when he was a player with Sydney

City some years ago. So far, no-one has found out if there?s a clip that

went with it. If there was, Andy?s keeping very quiet about it!

There are heaps more secrets I can tell you nearer the time of each episode

so keep watching the show and I?ll be in touch shortly.

Yours in football,
