Twitter Continues to Rule My Attention

Twitter.com

Part of the reason I haven't been blogging here is Twitter.

I've said it before.

My twitter stats tonight

  • 300 Friends
  • 1915 Updates

Pretty cool. I've done more twitters than posts on this blog.

That says it all for me

4 Years On

Wow!

It's been 4 years since I started playing with radio.

Almost 1500 posts. Countless comments. It's been fun.

However I'm considering not renewing, since I barely blog here anymore. I have a few weeks to decide

My Sweet 16th : 16 Sweet years at Microsoft

Sweet 16

Today is the anniversary of when I started my career at Microsoft - 16 years!

Here's some ways to represent 16 (thanks to Wikipedia)

Cardinal 16 / sixteen
Ordinal 16th / sixteenth
Numeral system hexadecimal
Factorization 2^4 \,\!
Divisors 1, 2, 4, 8, 16
Roman numeral XVI
Binary 10000
Octal 20
Duodecimal 14
Hexadecimal 10

As I say each year, I've been really lucky, as I have done lots of different things, been exposed to different parts of the business, and seen it from different parts of the world. I have been very fortunate to work with some amazing people within Microsoft, as well as some outstanding organisations & people outside of Microsoft.

MTV Sweet 16

Let's look back again, at what I've done

May 1991 Sep 1993 Microsoft Canberra, working as a Systems Engineer
Sep 1993 Aug 1994 Microsoft Corp, @ Executive Briefing Center
Aug 1994 Oct 1995 Microsoft Corp, in the Advanced Technology Group, working on Interactive TV
Nov 1995 May 1997 Microsoft Australia, MSN Technical Director
Jun 1997 Jun 1999 ninemsn CTO
Jun 1999 May 2001 Microsoft Region, Digital Media dude
May 2001 now Microsoft Australia, Developer & Platform Evangelism

Now I have a large team of evangelists, which includes some experienced folks, as well as some new guys who are getting up to speed very nicely. I find a large part of my role these days is explaining what we do to the rest of Microsoft. Seems some folks don't quite understand what it is we do

The future continues to be bright. I still love the job, I still believe in what we're doing, and I continue to get inspired by the impact we have. Just look at the buzz from the Popfly news - that just rocks!

Time to go make some mashups and celebrate

AFL Round 8 2007 : Results

Not a good round for the Saints. The played the worst game I have seen in years.

Plus, I made a bet with Molly and I lost. I will be singing the Hawthorn theme song for his next podcast.

My tipping suffered, but even if the Saints had won, I wouldn't have scored a perfect round - bloody bulldogs. And to cap it all off, all the home teams won!! That's what I used last week for my tipping! FFS

Week 8
(Tip ratio) Home Draw Away (Tip ratio)
(97%) Crows (14.15 99) Tigers (14.6 90) (3%)
(48%) Bombers (18.19 127) Lions (8.15 63) (52%)
(89%) Cats (14.10 94) Dockers (10.9 69) (11%)
(33%) Hawks (10.12 72) Saints (6.8 44) (67%)
(88%) Kangaroos (22.15 147) Blues (20.10 130) (12%)
(65%) Swans (17.16 118) Power (13.9 87) (35%)
(51%) Bulldogs (20.15 135) Magpies (14.18 102) (49%)
(97%) Eagles (19.23 137) Demons (9.6 60) (3%)

The news about the game isn't good, but then again, the game wasn't good either. The crowd was booing during the game.

AFL Round 6 2007 : Results

Another big round of games. A few surprising results. I picked 5 winners, which is better than last week BUT I am still coming last in my tipping comp.

On the plus side, the Saints opened the round with a win and the continued their winning streak against the blues - nine in a row! I remember in the 80's when we would always get flogged by the blues, so this is sweet.
