Much ado about blogging.. Scott Rosenberg at Salon has a new piece on blogging that's fairly level-headed: "...to lazy reporters, the world of blogs represents their worst nightmare: It's an endless parade of experts in every conceivable subject they might write about, all equipped with Internet-style megaphones ready to pounce on errors. Careful and thoughtful journalists will nevertheless welcome the advent of blogging: At worst, it should keep them on their toes and give them an incentive not to slip up, and at best, it should give them a chance to do their job better." Last Friday Bill Gates of Microsoft plus entourage and NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw plus entourage breezed into the little prairie town of Watertown, South Dakota for coffee with the locals. »In der französischen Metropole findet momentan ein Projekt (namens Wixos, die Red.) statt, dass die ganze Stadt in einen einzigen riesigen Hotspot verwandeln soll. Dutzende AccessPoints wurden seit April an den Metrohaltestellen einer Haupt Nord-Süd-Verkehrsachse installiert und bieten jedem der mit Laptop oder PDA ausgerüstet ist einen Internetzugang an, bis zum 30. Juni sogar kostenlos. Wenn alles wie geplant läuft, wollen die meist privaten Betreiber bis Ende des Jahres alle 372 Pariser Metrostationen mit Zugangspunkten ausstatten.
