Clay Shirkey enlightened me today on the nuances of wiki wiki webs (wikis) by comparing them to web logs (blogs). My quick definitions: Blogs allow an individual to easily add timestamped updates to a web site. Wikis allow multiple people to edit basically any part of a website. Clay discusses the two in the context of a very public disagreement between a handful of well-known bloggers. In part, he's saying that the collaboration tools (the individual blogs) contributed to the spat. A different tool (a shared wiki) may work better to minimize personalities and focus on the work task at hand, in this case, reaching consensus on a new version of the RSS standard.
