WS-Federation standard gets legs

What is probably the biggest challenge in information sharing in the justice world is establishing sufficient trust between computer systems owned by separate disciplines.  Within this challenge, the special problem of developing ways for computer B to trust the identity management of computer A so that cross-disciplinary system access is enabled.  Missing in this solution space has been a standard for sharing identity management rules.  Now Computerworld reports that Vendors team on WS-Federation standard. Introduced last July, the WS-Federation specification was developed by IBM and Microsoft and is designed for sharing user identities across corporate extranets and the Internet.
