(This note added late Monday nite 3/22. I don't know why this didn't post back on Thursday when I wrote
it. Anyway, I'm adding a final note here up front. The Sports
Show felt a lot like a family reunion, with many familiar faces showing
up at our booth. This year, every seemed in good spirits.
Not too much bitching about the DNR did this or didn't do that.
Refreshing for a change!
Found several new products that will soon show up in Dan's Mall, so
stay tuned. Fillet King stole the show. Tony, Bruce &
Wayne Johnson filleted 100 crappies, bluegills and perch on Friday and
Saturday and we fried them up in Legendary Northwoods breading and let
the crowd sample them. Too bad if you missed the taste sampling!
Later...)
Greetings. Just enough time for a quick post before I run back to
the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show (see my calendar on my
website for details). This is the biggest show in Wisconsin and
one of the best in the country. If you haven't been yet, make it
a point to come down this weekend and check it out.
I had a lively chat with Bob & Brian from WLZR this morning.
I forgot to call them as promised, but fortunately their producer had
my number from last year. They wanted to know if I had ever been
chased by a bear! No, but I went out on a limb to photograph a
porcupine close-up once. He had nowhere to go, so kept backing
up. I stopped and backed up myself when the limb got too whippy
for both of us.
Anyway, tonight I'm cooking salmon on the Pick & Save Outdoor
Grilling Stage. Ditto tomorrow night, both at 7:30.
Tomorrow I'm also competing in the state casting competition at 3:00,
then giving a deer hunting seminar at 4:00 and participating in the
chili cook-off at 5:30. That deer seminar, by the way, will
reveal some secret tactics used by Andrae d'Aquisto, the inventer of
the Lone Wolf Tree Stand, who has taken 21 bucks with a bow that scored
125 or better without using scent, antler rattling, decoys or other
aids. He ambushes big bucks and I'll tell you how he does it.
Saturday and Sunday, I'll be cooking salmon at 3:00. We'll also
be drawing the winner of the Crestliner/Yamaha boat package Sunday
afternoon, so stop for your tickets if you haven't already.
And we'll have a guest in our booth Friday and Saturday. when Tony
Johnson, the inventor of the Fillet King fish fillet board, will
demonstrate how to fillet crappies and bluegills using the board.
We'll also offer show specials on the board and a few other items.
So come on down!
No time for links today. More later...
