Rivers are where it's at right now. This morning, Mike Mladenik sent this brief report on the Menominee:
Hot weather and hot action!!! Lots of smallmouth
but no giant fish. Although we are not catching the huge fish we caught in
spring the action is excellent. Lots of numbers of fish in the 15-18 inch class.
Had some great topwater action fishing the mid river over weeds in 2-5 foot of
water. Also found fish along the slough edges. besides top water the new Venom
Hot rod has been excellent. This hollow plastic bait can be fished with an
erratic action keeping it close to the surface.
River muskies are also active in the upper reaches
of the river. topwater and bucktails are producing well. No big fish but nice
36-40 inchers.
