Spent yesterday afternoon at Wild Wings Sportsman's Club in Campbellsport (home
of the world-record brat, remember?),where I shot a round of sporting
clays with Debby Wolniak and Charlie and Gail Thon. Deb and I
will be taping a dove hunt with the Thons on Sept. 1, so we all thought
it might be a good idea to get in some practice at flying things.
Hoo, boy, did some of us need it! I was as inconsistent as ever,
hitting some tough targets and whiffing on a few floater gimmees!
Charlie shot well on most stations, but had to make some adjustments on
settling incomers. Gail smoked crossing pairs (two with one shot
a couple times) and high incomers. Deb was deadly on crossing
singles, but needed work on high incomers. A good way to see what
you can do and where you need to practice before taking on the doves
next month.
Never shot doves? Check out the DNR website for a dove info page
that tells you all you need to know. 60-day season starts Sept.
1, with a daily bag of 15 and possession limit of 30. Small game
license, HIP certification, plugged shotgun and a couple boxes of
shells are all you need.
Read all about it in the next issue of Wisconsin Outdoor News.
If you log onto that website right now, you can read my story on Bill
Vaznis, the bear hunting wizard from New York's Finger Lakes region.

Hi, all. From now on, instead of posting Naomi Shapiro's complete
fishing report here, I'll simply post a link to her website, where you
can read the report and find hot links to her sources. Easier for
me, easier for you to read, win-win for everyone.
For this week's report, go to www.northernwisconsin.com/fishingreports.htm
