Holy Hot Links, Batman! I just discovered that the links to most
of the stories on my weblog were not working. Must be because I
posted them on Shivani's iBook and they didn't come along when I
switched my Radio userland account to my new Powerbook.
Anyway, I just went in and made them work again. It was a simple
matter of hitting Edit this Page from my Radio home page, then
hitting "Post changes" and presto! They are all hot now. If
you haven't checked them out, take a look-see. Just click on
"stories" over to the right --->
BTW, this Radio weblog software is easy to work with!

I joined Geoff Grainger for a couple hours of fishing on the Milwaukee
River tonight. We each caught several smallmouths, but the
biggest was maybe 11 inches long. I also caught three rock bass,
one of them a 10-incher. They hit soft plastics and small
crankbaits. Geoff has caught better fish in this stretch, but the
big guys were lying low tonight. Blame it on the cold
front. Weatherman is forecasting frost up north tonight, low 50s
down south.
At dusk, there was a nice hatch of cream-colored mayflies coming off,
but nothing showing any interest. I'm guessing they were sulphur
duns. On a trout stream, they should have provoked some action,
but not here.
Geoff is a volunteer in a DNR smallmouth age and growth study. He
took scale samples from several of the bass. In a week or two,
Geoff and I will be helping Milwaukee Riverkeeper Cheryl Nenn of Friends of Milwaukee's Rivers
sample smallmouths and rock bass for a national study looking at
mercury contamination in fish from coal-fired power plants. It
will be interesting to see how our fish compare with those from around
the country. We'll need to collect five smallmouths and five rock
bass. The bite had better pick up, or we'll be at it a long time
to get five legal smallies!
