I was reading Phillipe LeGrain's book, "OPEN WORLD:/ the truth about globalisation". I was interested because he is a voice strongly in favour of open markets. "Globalisation has the potential to do immense good. Just look at the amazing leap in American and European living standards since the Second World War".
In summary, he seems to be suggesting that some people get richer as a result of globalisation. He suggests that competition encourages better products. He says its better for consumers, because they have more choice. New political alliance brought on by open markets make a whole block of traditionally privileged countries more secure.
