Funnies from CNN on JAN 26 CNN: Microsoft has come to an agreement to take over teen’s website Mike Rowe, a 17-year-old resident of Victoria, British Columbia, has agreed to pick a new name for his Web site, currently called http://www.MikeRoweSoft.com, said Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler.   Mike's father, Kim Rowe, confirmed that his son had struck an agreement with Microsoft. Rowe said his son could not be interviewed Friday because he had to study for final exams… In a posting on his Web site earlier this month, the teen said he received a 25-page letter from Microsoft informing him he was committing copyright infringement, and threatening legal action... Desler said Friday that Microsoft believes it's important to take steps to prevent widespread infringement of its name. DevDays is coming to Mid-America! Countdown to DevDays 2004 Visit the DevDays 2004 site for more information, or click one of the links below to register.  This event has great content and I'm not sure how to tell you how to catch all of it - luckily, you can take it home with you. However, this will be a fun set of days for me due to the following facts.  Steve Loethen will lead the charge at these cities.  Dan Fox, Billy Hollis, and I will be delivering the Smart Client presentations at these locations - Dan and Billy are two of the smartest people that I know.  Billy has served as a mentor and given me all sorts of advice as a fellow RD.  Dan has baby-sat, directed me and even covered for me more than anyone will ever know. Ron Cundiff is working the Web track - another high IQ guy and longtime friend.  All of these people have BIO's that will not fit into one blog entry.  These names have had a big impact on my personal career and so having them together will be a personal blast for me.  But the list of names does not end yet... DevDays St. Louis, MO March 3 Other speakers include Bill Evjen and Devin Rader, who are well known in St. Louis for thier work with INETA and the St. Louis .NET Users Group.  Bill is a friend, noted author, and fellow RD - which means that the keynote will be certainly entertaining. Devin is also tied to INETA and the most recent noise about him involves an Event Share Framework. DevDays Nashville, TN March 8  The other speakers here are Rob Foster and Mike Houston.  They not only run the Nashville Visual Studio User Group, they are well respected in the Nashville area.  Rob recently wrote "Programming Windows Server 2003" for Manning.  Billy Hollis is the RD for Nashville which should make for another exciting keynote. DevDays Memphis, TN March 9 The big names here are Jeff Kirwan and Jerry Dixon.  Jeff Kirwan is known in the community for having a broad range of knowledge including .NET, Web Services, .NETCF, etc.  He is the only developer that I know around here that has BizTalk components written in .NET and in production.  I have used info on his blog more than once. Jerry Dixon and I have worked together for many years and he is not short on IQ either.  Jerry's experience is broad but lately he has been evangelizing XML/XSLT and how to use in .NET.  You can find info on his presentations at the Memphis .NET User Group site. DevDays Kansas City, MO March 11 The keynote will be given by John Alexander, author, local RD, one of the nicest guys that you'll meet, and not short on technical knowledge.  Jeff Julian will also be there presenting on the web track.  He is a blogger extrodinaire, blog hoster, XML evangelist, and all around .NET guy. I have not met Hector Correa but I hear that he has solid architect knowledge, is good with .NET, and is a author.
