Upon a quick look at the October 2004 edition of Healthcare IT News, I see that Motion Computing unveiled an updated product at the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) 2004 Annual Conference in San Francisco in early October.

“The Motion Computing Medical Pak is a set of personal productivity applications selected to assist a wide range of medical practitioners using Motion Tablet PCs.  It includes:

·       Gold Standard Multimedia Clinical Pharmacology OfficePak

·       Elsevier Dorland Medical Dictionary and Spell Checker

·       Standard Register’s physician office forms

·       More than 212,000 medical words installed into the Tablet PC Input Panel (TIP) dictionary to increase the recognition accuracy of handwritten medical terms”

More details are available on the Motion Computing site but retail pricing is $99.  And from the web site: “Using the new input panel on my Motion tablet is easy, fast and gives me the ability to use the pen in many applications,” said Brian McCardel, MD, Chief of Orthopedics and Board Member, Sparrow Health System. “With the combination of the new word list and the enhancements in the TIP included in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, my handwriting recognition has greatly improved. I can quickly do my clinical data entry without a keyboard.”
