If it can be said in that (previous post)  sense that Bush has a client, what, or who is the potential client for the democrats?

overheard.. while this is slightly biased, it is a point of view worth considering. By biased I mean that it leaves out the desires of

1. the bureaucracy and its careerists

2. the middle class and its fears

Getting alignment is what history is about, where the result is the sum of often contradictory forces.

It is a long struggle from "the hit the towers we need to get em" to the subtle discernment implicit and explicit in this article. That we are holding back from attacking Fulluja is a sign, perhaps, of growing maturity.

Part of what is hard now is that, with almost everyone with any knowledge about Iraq agrees the US cannot just pull out, but not pulling out looks like supporting Bush - and he takes it that way - makes it all the more difficult.
