Web Service Offerings Language = SOAP + Composition Filters?
Here's another group making the connection between Web Services, SOAP intermediaries, and "separation of concerns", aspect-oriented programming (AOP), etc. Although I only stumbled across it recently, research on "composition filters" as a model for aspect-oriented separation of concerns is over a decade old. This paper (click headline) makes the following tantalizing suggestion:

[A] constraint-checking SOAP intermediary in our approach can be related to a composition filter.

BTW, When I look at the diagrams in composition filter papers like this one, I see Longhorn's Indigo!
