It is fairly clear that Robert Scoble missed a very large reason why Web 2.0 entrepreneurs are not keen on using Microsoft's products as their product base (or at least why they shouldn't). Yesterday Microsoft announced they will be competitors to these Web 2.0 entrepreneurs. Though based on the apparently amateurish presentation, the lame name (when will Microsoft ever stop using stupid product names -- Windows Live, Office Live ..??? -- how is this related to Windows or Office?-- seems like it will be confusing the hell out of people) and the spin afterwards, Microsoft might not really be that great a competitor.
