MOBILE PHONES IN SHANGHAI

Apparently, it was not so long ago when owning a cell phone was a sign of prosperity in Shanghai, however these days virtually everyone in Shanghai owns a cell, ranging from the local taxi driver to 10 year old primary school students. The Shanghainese' fascination with technology and pursuit of all things new have combined to ensure the success of this market. Every time you turn around there is a new model of cell phone on the market, and you can be just as sure that within a few weeks you will see it in the hands of the Shanghai youth along Huai Hai Road.

According to this article, 60% of the population of Shanghai have subscribed to mobile phone networks, which ¡s pretty staggering when you consider the demographics of this city.
