How Virginia Tech built it's G5 SupercomputerAn amazing accomplishment with a machine that you can buy for yourself. 1100 G5s aren't needed on my desktop, but I'll take just one for kicks! Check out the video. Very nicely done. http://www.apple.com/hardware/video/virginiatech/virginiatech_480.html 11:54:44 PM |
Loud drips can scare you to deathBy Bill Sones and Rich Sones Ph.D. Question: Can you imagine circumstances where the loud dripping of plain water into basins set beneath your bed frightens you to death? Clue: You're blindfolded and strapped to the bed.
Answer: In 1936, in India, recounts Nobel Laureate Bernard Lown in "The Lost Art of Healing," an astonishing experiment was conducted on a prisoner condemned to die by hanging. He was given the choice instead of being "exsanguinated," or having his blood let out, because this would be gradual and relatively painless. The victim agreed, was strapped to the bed and blindfolded. |
Anyone seen Jeremy Botter?Does anyone know what happened to Jeremy Botter's blog? I've not found any information yet (not tried too hard as of yet) and would like to know if anyone has any news about his reasons for taking down the blog. I would guess that he may have had orders to refrain from blogging, as it could be a security issue for the troops. But for us, it really was a great on-the-ground perspective that we rarely get from our guys in Iraq. This is perplexing...Why would Al Sharpton and Carol Moseley Braun be interested in seeing what goes on in here? I've noticed that I've had visitors from their domain and it just seems odd they would have any interest in seeing what this little Republican from the state of Oklahoma has to say. Hmmm. Perhaps they are interested in the link to the dancing trombone player! click here to see the video 12:51:14 AM |
