2 Months Old . . .

Tommy is two months old.  It's amazing how much Tommy has grown in just the past few weeks.  (Of course, how would you know.  My job is to keep the blog up to date, so that you would know - but I've been a bad bad father.)

You Lookin' At Me . . .

Going back to work has put a small cramp in my blog posting time.  This whole work thing right in the middle of the day seriously cuts into my efforts to brag about my kids.

Anyway, since the last post, Tommy has done some serious growing.  On Sept. 5, Janet took Tommy to the pediatrician to weigh him - and he weighed 8 lbs., 14 oz.!  He packed on 15 ounces in 10 days - which means he's seriously packing it on.  And talk about long - this kid can be the next Yao Ming.  It is amazing how much stronger and tougher this guy is already.  Just a few weeks ago, I was struggling with how delicate and frail a newborn can be - and now Tommy is already feeling pretty solid.

The Bros

Nick is adjusting well - and better than we expected.  I'm sure it isn't easy for him having to share the role of "center of the universe" in this family.  No injuries thus far - except that Nick poked his little brother in the eye the other day.  I don't think it was malicious, rather Nick was just testing Tommy to see if he is real.  And other than an occassional whine, Nick has been a very sweet big brother.  He reminds us to keep our voices down when Tommy is sleeping -- "shh . . . ta slee".  And Nick loves to stroke Tommy's head and play with his feet.  And can you blame him - not many things are cuter than a baby's tiny little foot.

Tom Meets His Big Cuz'n

Nick and Tommy's big cousin Elliott came by for a visit tonight.  Joey, Stephanie, and Elliott brought dinner over and sang karaoke.  Nick got to hang out and play with his Ge-Ge Elliott, which he loves to do.  Elliott then belted out a few tunes on the karaoke - which was pretty amazing.  You might not believe that a 4 year old has memorized Elton John's greatest hits - except that we captured it on video, and we'll be saving it for his future bride.

Tom is starting to have a bit more "awake" time (in other words, a few moments when he isn't eating, pooping or sleeping).  So, we finally got a picture of Tom and Ge Ge, with Tom's eyes open.  And how about Nick and those bedroom eyes - he's going to break a few hearts with those dreamers.

Can't Ask For a Better Birthday.

I couldn't ask for a better birthday present than to be surrounded by my family.  Tommy is doing really well and is almost back to his birth weight.  (He lost a bit of weight a few days after the birth, but has been packing it back on.  We're hoping he inherited our appetite.)

Tommy Meets His Nai-Nai.

On his one week birthday, Tommy met his Nai-Nai.  Here is Tommy's Nai-Nai holding him.  Tommy's Nai-Nai is spending two weeks with us to help us while we're getting adjusted.  She's helping with Nick and Tommy, as well as cooking us great meals.  Love that chicken soup.

Nick can't get enough of his little brother.  Tommy's Ge-Ge wants to keep touching and kissing him.  Just wait until Tommy's playing with his toys - let's see how sweet Nick is then.  But between now and then, it's great to see Nick enjoying his new brother.

4 Days Old Already . . .

There's nothing more peaceful than a baby sleeping.  If Tommy isn't nursing or having his diaper changed, then he's sleeping.  Who can blame the little guy.  It also gives me a chance to just cradle the guy in my arms.  Pretty soon, he'll be like his big bro and be too big to cradle.

The Girlfriends came by today to visit Janet and meet Tommy for the first time.  They brought some of Janet's favorite Filipino desserts - yum.  This gave Nick a chance to play with his buddy Miles.

Welcome Home Tommy!

Tommy and Mommy were released from the hospital on Tuesday morning.  We had to leave the care and comfort of all the great nurses at the hospital, and take care of Tommy on our own now.

Today was a day of a few "firsts" - the first of many.  This was the first time he sat in his car seat, and the first time he went for a ride in a car (or at least, the first time he rode in a car without riding shotgun with his mom).  I'm happy to report he did great and we're already talking about our first family road trip when he's a bit older.

This is the first time Tommy has seen his home, so Mommy is giving him the grand tour.

After a long day of "firsts," Tommy and Nick finally get to hang out and be buds.
