South Korea and
the United States open new talks aimed at reshaping their
half-century-old military alliance, moves that have sparked security
jitters in Seoul.
President Bush, who three years ago
said Iran and North Korea were part of an "axis of evil," on
Wednesday emphasized diplomacy in dealing with the two
countries.
The United States says North
Korea's nuclear programs and sales of sensitive technology poses "a
threat to global peace" and urges Pyongyang to return to the
negotiating table.
