San Francisco Bay Area Postal Workers Against the War and Occupation

A new labor anti-war committee, Postal Workers Against the War and Occupation, was formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in October of 2003.  Their platform includes the following points:

We oppose the US war and occupation in Iraq and elsewhere. Bring the troops home now.

We oppose the Patriot Act, racial profiling and other infringements on our civil rights, union rights and civil liberties -- tearing up the Bill of Rights and increasing government control over peoples lives.

We oppose spending hundreds of billions of the workerstax dollars on war, while millions lose their jobs and the "social safety net" goes up in smoke, and they threaten to dismantle or privatize national treasures like the Post Office, Medicare and Social Security.

Workers in the Postal Service and other industries have begun to build a grassroots network, to involve our unions and communities in the movement to change these priorities and create a more just and humane society.
