I can't assume you've heard of the "Singularity". Anyone wanting to write SF needs to be aware of it as a fundamental SF theme. So here is a definition. Hell, Charles Stross, arguably one of the hotest authors out there,  has a new book named after it; Singularity Sky. I'm reading it now. It's pretty good.

Need a broad overview of Transhumanism in mainstream SF today? I found this article that give you a high level overview. It's not hard core, but there is some good stuff in it. I'll post more in-depth stuff shortly.

If you are building a SF future, you have to consider more than the technology changes. There will be social and political changes also. This article shows that the political lines are already being drawn before nanotechnology can begin to effect our lives.

Here's an interesting interview with a scientist talking about his strategy to cure aging. It's very readable. It's important to understand complex processes like this to add angles in your story plotting.
