Weblogs : CBS 2 Chicago.

CBS 2 Chicago is one of the many news networks that understand the power of RSS to deliver content to their readers, with 13 feeds (I can even get an Andy Rooney Feed - Hip Hip Hooray!!) I am going to assume that more newspapers have RSS feeds than television news programs that have a web presence, but I could be wrong. This could make for an interesting study.

BTW, I'm still waiting for Newsday to join the RSS bandwagon. Now that I kinda have an "in", maybe I'll try to do more convincing. Sigh. (link via NewsIsFree) [Library Stuff]

Weblogs : Radio Blog Club.

When I first looked at Radio Blog Club, which allows weblog writers to stream music onto their blog, I thought, "big whoop", but then I thought a bit about public libraries (I'm in the middle of writing a primer on weblogs and libraries), and realized that those libraries that are incorporating their library catalogs with a weblog can use this tool to stream their mp3 content so that patrons can listen a bit before deciding on whether or not to check out the item. Is this too far fetched? I don't think so. Aaron told me that he has Lessig's book in Mp3 format in his catalog. Why not add a streaming listening features? One issue: bandwidth. Listen Illinois, might be able to incorporate something like this.

Before I download a Grateful Dead show from the Internet Archive, I listen to it first to check for any sound issues. If it sounds good, I download. I like the streaming feature. I feel like I'm in a music store and can listen to the songs before I buy (or, er, download)
