Its RSS article day, this one from a publishing point of view:
A Really Simple Content Solution? (via News is Free Blog):
"Some publishers fear tipping their hand, that is, showing readers headlines and blurbs, will disincline people from clicking through to the site for the whole story -- hence fewer eyeballs. I'm not aware of any research on RSS's impact on publishers, advertisers, or readers. It's still too early in the game."
I think, if anything, there will be more visitors to sites if they offer an RSS feed, due to the ease of subscribing and the fact that readers won't miss articles if they subscribe to the feed. More clicks!! I love the last paragraph:
"Do you need an RSS strategy? Not today, perhaps. This isn't a question of if, but when, your target audience demands, "Feed me!"
I'm getting images in my brain of the "Mean Green Mother From Outerspace" that starred in Little Shop of Horrors. What a great image that would be for a presentation on RSS. FEED ME SEYMOUR!! FEED ME ALL NIGHT LONG!!
