Budget Focuses on Education. Education and training got the lion’s share in Saudi Arabia’s 2004 national budget, which projected revenue at SR200 billion ($53.3 billion) and expenditure at SR230 billion ($61.3 billion). The deficit budget, which was endorsed by the Council of Ministers chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd in Riyadh yesterday, earmarked SR63.65 billion ($16.97 billion) for general education, higher education and manpower training. Calpers Sues NYSE, Specialists (Reuters). Reuters - Calpers, the biggest U.S. pension fund, on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the New York Stock Exchange and its specialist trading firms, alleging widespread trading abuses by the firms that it said went unchecked by the NYSE for years. Congress to Weigh Easing U.P.S. Role on Pension Funds. Congress is expected to consider a proposal early next year that would shift responsibility for billions of dollars in future pension promises to the federal government from United Parcel Service. U.P.S. is chafing at its legal requirement to cover retirees of other companies through its participation in multiemployer plans, in which many employers pool the cost of providing pensions for union members.
