Arizonia, Phoenix near the top in two jobs categories.

The state's job number grew by 2.2 percent over the 12-month period, trailing only Nevada. The Valley trailed only the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C. Levi losses trimmed as sales rise. The iconic jeans maker slashes losses to just $2m as cost cuts and a shift to a value range start to take effect. For some years, it has been losing ground to a combination of cheaper price tags in chainstores, and newer brands which made its traditional styles look old-fashioned. It also failed to follow the lead of firms such as Nike into contract manufacturing overseas, although it has now caught up with the recent closure of the last of its 63 plants in the US. Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro Transit says tentative settlement reached in bus strike. State workers comp pool to save Mo. businesses $3M. Travelers Commercial Casualty Co., which administers the Missouri workers compensation pool, has filed an average rate cut of 3.7 percent, which is expected to save the 7,500 businesses in the pool about $3 million a year, the department said. UC-Berkeley report: Renewable energy sources could mean more jobs. The report concluded that a comprehensive, coordinated energy policy works best, emphasizing not only renewable energy sources but also energy efficiency and sustainable transportation. These "yield far greater employment benefits than supporting one or two of these sectors separately," it said.  The report said that as many as 240,000 new jobs would be created by 2020, versus no more than 75,000 new jobs, if the country sticks to fossil fuels.
