It seems like the differences between GSM and CDMA will be dying out gradually. As the wireless carriers move to the next generations of wireless service, there will be a convergence. CDMA carriers are moving toward CDMA2000 and possibly towards WCDMA http://www.qualcomm.com/cdma/3g.html

I hope they don't get rid of SIM cards. Maybe Sprint and Verizon will even switch to SIM cards. Fat Chance. Then people wouldn't have to buy a new phone everytime they switched carriers, or pay to activate everytime they got a new phone. What a rip off that is.
