Advertised as their "online conscience," it promises to render the most massive pontifications into "See Spot Run." I'd try it here, but no Mac OS version is offered, so I guess I'll continue to be wordy. You might try it, though, if you're part of WinTel Nation. Run a few of my entries through it and let me know if your hard drive doesn't liquefy.

I'm often reminded of Churchill's wartime dictum urging British cabinet ministers to embrace brevity. The English have always seemed masters of the 40 lb. sentence. Sir Winston hated it enough that he sat down in the midst of the Blitz, Empire's fate hanging by a thread, to focus on the problem of the "wooly phrase." Yet he generated a lot of memorable wooliness himself. After all, he didn't tell the House of Commons If we're motivated, we're lucky and we don't run out of bullets, we'll beat the Nazis all by ourselves. We'll defend the homeland. It's our job, and it beats the alternative. Yes sir, when there is a wrong to right, the British troops will join the fight. On the sea or on the land, we'll have the situation well in hand.
