| Superelastic Iconoclastic Spanning the globe... to bring you a constant variety of lucidity And doggone it, people *like* me? I've been relatively busy these past couple of days... time for some housekeeping. First, thanks to Amy, Chris, Tom, Dave, Paul and Dave for their linkbacks, trackbacks, visits, mentions and general good thoughts about this startup project I've cobbled together over here. I'm not an attention junkie or anything, but I recognize that the degree of positive (or at least neutral... nobody's yet said they hate it) notice I've gotten is nothing to take for granted. And of course, it does feel mighty fine. There are a lot of worthy blogs out there that haven't attracted the sort of attention in a year that I've managed to collect in just a few weeks. My sincere thanks to each and every one of you. I have this relatively new "home" that I haven't quite moved into yet, so it may be awkward to read this thing at times. Feels like I'm getting a rhythm down, though. The rapid, unexpected publicity is a powerful motivator. I read my own previous entries and feel I have a few "rooms" furnished with Hitchcock Fine Furniture... but the rest is strictly Nationwide Warehouse. Eventually I'll get it together. A few people are stumbling on "Superelastic Iconoclastic" and where I came up with the name. I guess it means I have an inner radical, but I'm too wishy-washy to let him out. My tastes and interests and affiliations are all over the map. I don't try to live my life with the goal of impressing others with faux "worldliness," and indeed I have been quite successful at failing to impress people. I thought about calling this "Waffle House" but worried about infringement... and "Dave's Radio Weblog" was already taken 30 or 40 times over. Also, the rhyming name put me in mind of one of the stupidest kid toys ever marketed (and I remember wanting so badly as a tyke), Super Elastic Bubble Plastic. Later, Christine noted the similarity to the chant in the Beastie Boys' "Intergalactic," which is much cooler (with lots more street cred) than what I had in mind.
A few improvements I hope to roll out soon... categorizing my posts so that, on days when I'm feeling funky and self-absorbed, I can file those entries under an appropriate header, making it easier for people who aren't into that sort of thing to skip past it. I'm in the process of writing an "about me" page, a dreaded task, but one I think new visitors will find handy. I'm also waiting for the opportunity to sign up for
The default Radio template will go away someday. I have no clue about the how-to's of web design, but I won't subject Internet Planet to the foibles of my learning curve. This works for now... eventually I'll pretty the place up. Company's coming... hide the dirty dishes in the oven! 12:39:39 AM
