| Superelastic Iconoclastic Spanning the globe... to bring you a constant variety of lucidity Welcome Massachusetts Visitors Please enjoy our great beaches, outdoor vistas, cultural and historic landmarks, and our fine municipal facilities. You'll notice that we've preserved a lot of our historic landmarks, even some of those that are so dilapidated one wonders how they could still be standing. But those are characteristics typical of Yankee thrift. We save everything, even things that have long outlived any utility they once might have had. We have a lot of old legal documents here, for example, as we've kept our bureaucracy going for almost 400 years, and the byproduct of that is lots and lots of paper. Some of those archaic legislative banns seem charming and quaint to our contemporary eyes, but of course, nobody takes them seriously anymore. For instance, did you know it's illegal to put tomatoes in clam chowder in Massachusetts? We once outlawed Christmas! Please don't eat peanuts in church! And when transporting a gorilla in your private automobile, please ensure they are riding shotgun! I don't think anyone's been run up on charges relating to the above in many a year, but theoretically it could still happen, so enjoy that Manhattan-style chowder with care!
As far as I know, it's still okay to throw rice, in church or anywhere else. And it doesn't hurt birds, either... that's a myth. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, a myth is "a fiction or half-truth, especially one that forms part of an ideology." Popular culture everywhere is riddled with them; your Massachusetts experiences may reflect that, but knowledge is power. As long as you know you're doing the right thing (and I suspect you've had more time to think about it than many who've been in your situation), I attest that I know of no impediment either. May your souvenir of Massachusetts never be rendered obsolete. Good luck to you. I wish you well in your journey. 9:59:12 AM
