Sugar High Fridays:  White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies (and Amarula on ice)

Welcome to October – to Sugar High Friday! The next (and sinfully delicious) spin-off of Is My Blog Burning?!?! It seems like only yesterday IMBB #8 wrapped up (or is it that the hangover wore off?!!). And still, I’m a bit delirious. Delirious from all the marvelous recipes and reading and downloading. Delirious from the changing seasons and all the new and wonderful foods arriving in my marketplace. Delirious from the frenzy of work my new business is churning up! Delirious about the National Apple Harvest that kicks off in my sleepy little Central Pennsylvania this weekend. But above all else, delirious from my seemingly endless search for the Ghirardelli Sweet Ground White Chocolate Flavor Mix that Jennifer over at The Domestic Goddess featured in her announcement for her inaugural installment of SHF:ISTBE – Sugar High Fridays: the international sweet-tooth blogging extravaganza.

Since returning from my stage at #1 rated Bosman’s Restaurant in South Africa and my short stint with the Pastry Chef, I’ve wanted to make the chocolate lasagne we prepared as a featured dessert. Delicious, delicate layers of pasta flavored with chocolate, macerated pears and a sweet kahlua crème filling. I thought, instead, it would be delightful to do the recipe with white chocolate, macerated strawberries and a sweet Godiva Chocolate crème filling. After IMBB #7, I had conquered my fear of pasta dough making, and my new pasta maker compliments of my sous chef had just arrived. All I needed now was the Sweet Ground White Chocolate Mix.

I searched and searched. I knew I would. I stopped at grocery stores on my way to clients; I stopped at specialty stores on my way home. I even visited the Ghirardelli website. But NO SWEET GROUND WHITE CHOCOLATE MIX. Is this some cruel trick? Or just the misadventures of a chef searching for an ingredient THAT DOES NOT EXIST?!?!

What to do? Then I remembered the advice of Alice over at My Adventures in the Breadbox after a disappointed IMBB day. She opined that when all else fails a stiff drink and some take-out is the perfect end to a disappointing day. Welcome to my version of a stiff drink and take-out: blog burning style!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies and Amarula on ice! These delicious little frozen cookie dough treats are stashed in my freezer. A memorial of sorts to my niece and nephews’ endless school fund-raisers. But, I repeatedly buy this cookie dough. It is fabulous, not to mention fabulously easy! The Amarula? Let’s just say its my toast to my friends in the Sunny Paarl Wine Valley of South Africa, that inspired, instructed and patiently stood by my side as I learned my craft.
