His tongue pierced with a dagger, a devotee of the Chinese Shrine Kathu walks with others during a procession on Friday at the Vegetarian Festival in Phuket, Thailand. The festival, which calls for strict vegetarianism, also features bizarre body piercing with unusual items. The festival is held annually during the ninth lunar month. Photo: David Longstreath/AP
Ouch!
Really looking forward to the week-end. I've been tired all week....I think my body still hasn't gotten used to the idea that it needs to get up at 5:30 every morning and carry itself off to the gym. Alan too is finding the early morning regime a bit much. He's not really a morning person -- what teenager is?! His soccer coach is also working them extra hard, trying to sort out some technical problems that have surfaced in the team. For instance, they can't seem to be able to score lately -- they can be 10 feet in front of the net on a break away and they somehow still can't finish! Don't know what that's all about....maybe just pre-game nerves?
Speaking of soccer - congratulations to Canada's women's team! I didn't get to see the game last night, but it sounds like it was pretty intense. It will be interesting to see how they do against Sweden, which has foiled Canada in the past.
