Caught in the Middle You may know that I am the manager of Alan's soccer team that went to Nationals. Since our return, I have been doing a bit of damage control. Some parents are upset that their boys got very little if any playing time. The coach played his main core of 11 most of the time, although he took 19 players in case of injury, misconduct, etc. His feeling was: this is the National Championships and he should play his best.
Last night there was a parents' meeting, with much venting. Thankfully the coach did not attend, as there were some very hurtful things said. While I can see their points of view, I also can sympathize with the coach, who gives hours of volunteer time to this team and who rarely gets a thank you and most often gets criticism for his decisions. It wouldn't surprize me if he quits. Fun and games!
