Kitchen Foibles Maybe it was the lateness of the hour, or maybe I just need new glasses, but a little slip up in the kitchen on Tuesday night resulted in a rather interesting dinner last night.
I had decided to make Thai chicken and Thai spicy noodles for dinner on Wednesday, and in the interest of being organized and cutting down on prep time I found myself in the kitchen late on Tuesday night making the marinade for the chicken and the sauce for the noodles. Only problem is: I mis-read the amount of chili paste I needed for the noodles. Yes, any reasonable person would have clued in that half a cup of chili paste did seem a bit excessive, but who ever said I was reasonable? It wasn't until I taste-tested the noodles just before we sat down to eat yesterday that I very quickly realized something wasn't right (my first clue was the fire that instantly shot out of all my orifices). I double checked the recipe, and it in fact called for half a teaspoon of chili paste!
My family bravely spooned mounds of sour cream over the noodles and did their best to eat some of them. Ah well, the chicken was good. Another lesson learned.
