New Music I love learning new piano music! Today my teacher and I chose a piece by the Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera. It's called 'Rondo sobre temas infantiles argentinos' or 'Rondo on Argentine Children's Folk-tunes.' It's a wonderfully simple piece (not simple to play but it should sound like a series of simple children's songs) he wrote in 1947. It's reminiscent of Debussy in some ways, particularly in its chromaticism. Can't wait to get it into my fingers, brain and heart.

Christmas spirit?? A group of us at work decided we would form a bit of a choir so we could go around to various government offices at Christmas and sing carols. Today was our first rehearsal. You haven't heard anything until you've heard a bunch of people, few who can carry a tune, try to sing harmony! As my dad would say, "What's that you're singing? The tune the old cow died on?!"
I'm now off to my piano lesson -- hopefully I'll play better than I just sang!
