This diamond-ring shaped solar eclipse photo was taken just before totality at Dome Fuji, some 1,000 kilometres south of the Japanese observation base of Showa and released Monday by the Japanese Antarctic observation team. Jiji Press/AFP

Another eclipse - this one solar - over the week-end. Photos from the G&M.

One month and counting....
A month from today is Christmas Eve. And next Sunday is the beginning of Advent, which means it's our annual Advent Garden celebration - I wrote about it last year in another version of this blog. My job this year is to do the puppet show. I'm doing a story of a troll who wants to be a human being, and how he becomes human by doing good deeds for people and animals.

The Movies
Yesterday, Jamie and I went to see the movie Loonie Tunes Back in Action. Probably one of the worst flicks I've seen in a long while, although I have to admit I did enjoy the part where Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunnie are running in and out of the frames of various famous paintings in the Louvre. But it was either that or Cat in the Hat....and I had heard bad reviews about that one too.
