Longest Night
Boy it was hard to crawl out of bed this morning. Last night, there were 14 people over for dinner to celebrate the winter solstice. Afterwards, we took our customary candle-lit walk through the woods behind our house...then back home for dessert. Winter Solstice is probably my favourite day of the year, apart from Christmas. Something about the darkness....I love to sit in the dark with only the fire or one candle for light.

Stumbled across this web site that suggests alternatives to the Christmas consumerism. Some good ideas to think about. I don't know if I could go completely cold turkey with the gift buying, although we have tried to keep it very simple this year.
