I've been away from this blog for the past week, being busy with all things Christmas-like. Christmas morning was far more quiet than usual. Guess that's what happens when your kids get older. No more getting up at 5 in the morning to shrieks of excitement - in fact, we had to wake up Iris! But I kind of like this new phase we seem to have moved into. Is that another sign of old age??
Opened our presents, had eggs bennie for breakfast, then off to do a bit of visiting and home for dinner and the subsequent vegging on the couch.
On the 26th and 27th we had three open houses to go to. We didn't make it to any of them. It was as if, having relaxed on the 25th, our bodies realized just how tired they were and for the next two days they went on strike from doing anything other than the obligatory eating, lounging about and sleeping (I finally got 'The Blind Assassin' read. It was very well written, but depressing - probably not my recommendation for holiday reading). On the 28th we emerged from our cocoons to go to my boss' open house, which was quite fun, and yesterday Jamie and I went to see The Return of the King.
I don't go back to work until Monday, so will not likely post again until then.
