Ballet Victoria Launches with Hip Hop Peter Pan
(CBC) Billing itself Vancouver Island's first professional ballet company, Ballet Victoria has chosen to stage an ambitious new adaptation of James Barrie's Peter Pan,as its first full-length production. Ballet Victoria's production of the famed children's story, which celebrates its centennial this year, will combine classical ballet with more contemporary dance styles, including hip hop, Chinese and First Nations dance, and features dancers as young as 11 years old.
Iris was desperately hoping that her dance school would do Peter Pan for its year-end performance. However, the artistic director settled on Snow White instead.
