Way cool!

See, this is way cool. You know, these days you have all these odd people wondering around talking to themselves. I am sure you have noticed. In times gone by we would have put them into an asylum. Now we all know, at least we all hope, that they are talking on their cell phone. Paranoid people like me furtively check to see if they have headphones on. I don't know why – if they didn't have headphones, what would I do, other than edge a little further away?

Well, with my new cell phone I have now joined the ranks of all those people who wonder around nattering to themselves. My cell phone plays audio files. And it also has a radio built into it. So I listen to the music! And then someone phones me. And I start talking to them. And the rest of the world sees me nattering away to myself. So out of consideration to everyone else I have taken to holding my cell phone up to my ear when on such a call. Just to let everyone know that I am not demented, and that I am on a call. There is no need to do this, but to make everyone around me more comfortable I do this. Way cool, and way considerate. Bizarre, huh?

But now I find myself wondering: just how many people, talking to themselves, with headphones on, actually are making a call?
