Small Schools New Zealand
Here in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, the Labour government planned to 'consolidate' our schools. This at a time when most of the research would seem to indicate that small schools are far better for pupils! These were my writings about this issue.

The year has started...

The Minister has released his proposals for Upper Hutt.

And in a brave move the Ministry has released the document on which his proposals are based. It is missing some of the more interesting appendixes (go figure). It has also managed to transform itself from a MS-Word document this morning into a PDF document this evening!

And within 2 minutes of looking at the MS-Word document my brilliant wife found a flaw in the document that would indicate that the review team had not been paying due attention (if any) when reading the submissions. However, given the amazing transformation of the document we will re-read the newer version tomorrow to confirm the continued existence of flaw. Stay tuned...

I know that the school review process is supposed to be a rigorous one, without due regard for money, and I know that the Ministry is really doing its best for the pupils, but to my untrained and biased eye it would seem that the schools that shouted the loudest and hardest got left alone the most.
