Small Schools New Zealand
Here in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, the Labour government planned to 'consolidate' our schools. This at a time when most of the research would seem to indicate that small schools are far better for pupils! These were my writings about this issue.

And National Say:

By the Left, quick...

I have a plan. But read carefully, as I will only type this once...

The Green party and United Future have both come out strongly against school network reviews. But if these two parties wanted the network reviews to stop they could simply threaten to introduce a vote of no confidence in Labour. The longer these two parties simply complain about the network reviews without taking concrete action, the more they look like they are simply trying to make political capital out of societies suffering. Not a good look.

Labour are in a pickle. Their popularity is falling, their Ministers look like they 'spin' everything, and being exposed to the hypocrisy of a school network review is driving long time Labour supporters away.

So would the Greens and United Future please draw a line in the sand over network reviews? Then Labour can escape from this political noose without having to carry any further blame. They can concentrate on repairing their ruined image. United Future and the Greens gain credibility. And our schools and communities can breath easy for the moment.

And if this can all be done before the march on Tuesday, you lot running our country will avoid all that further negative publicity!

Given that we are closing schools, the Ministry should host its own seminar: 'School run' problems discussed. A seminar is hearing about environmental and health concerns surrounding the daily school car run. [BBC News | Education | UK Edition]
