I've set up this Blog for people to send notes to Keith.
It's easy to do. Simply click here and whatever you put in your email message will show up below. His parents can then print this site out and read them to Keith.
If the link above doesn't seem to work, you can also send emails to keith@gatorbus.com with the subject "Keith". Make sure you ONLY put "Keith" (no quotes) in the subject or it won't work. And it must be just how it appears here with a capital "K".
NOTE: it usually takes about 1-2 minutes after sending your email for it to show up here... BUT it can take up to 12 hours depending on whether my laptop is on or not. Just send the email one time.

Hey Keith,
It's Harry Carrey. I'm here with Linda Ham from NASA, say Linda, you ever say your own name and get hungry? Tell me something Linda, what's it like in space?
HA HA! I thought you'd like that. I wanted to see how things were going for you and to let you know I was thinking about you. I'm trying to rally up Triple H, CT and Ayal and make a quadruple actor special over at your house. Sounds like you're doing a lot better and it looks like I've only got a few more weeks left were I can still beat you at arm wrestling. I'll give you and your mom a call and we'll set something up soon.
Take care,

Drogs, coming from a physical therapy standpoint it sounds like you are
making some great strides. I have had patients in the past make some pretty
remarkable recoveries so I know that anything is possible. Great pictures
with "The Hulk". He looks a lot younger than I thought he would be. All is
well back in Florida and my wife, Tiffany, and I are expecting our first
child in late July. We were thinking of naming her Drogina but decided
against it for fear of outcast on her first day of school. Still up in the
air with names but any suggestions always help. You are in both our prayers
and I can't wait for you to get back this way or for my ass to make it out
there. Just remember that everyone has your back and is pulling for you day
in and day out. Keep the faith, Joshua Sperry

Dear Friends,
My mom is typing this note for me. I am finally reading all your letters and am amazed at your thoughts. I am planning to try some eastern therapies including accupressure recommended by my physical therapist. I am repeating my sigmoidoscopy. The doctor could not complete the test because she needs to see all areas where a hemroid rupture has or could occur. I am walking with a single point cane and sometimes without it. I can raise my right arm and need more faith to use my right arm and hand. My speech is improving and I will answer all of you as I continue to recover. My friend and co-worker Scott Fuller arranged a visit with Lou Ferrigno at Lou's home garage gym. Lou's life is inspirational because his faith and determination has overcome what doctors and professionals said was impossible. Please note my new e-mail address: keithdrogan@mindspring.com. I will always need your prayers. God Bless. Keith

Update on Keith: He's going home! Thanks to continued improvement, Keith will be going home Wednesday (1/7) but will still need outpatient care going forward. Keith has become fairly independent, he can lift himself out of bed, wheel chair around and is walking (slowly) with the use of a cane. He will still need to work on the use of his right arm. Keep up the good work Keith, we're all pulling for you!

Keith Drogan, this is an old fraternity brother Chris Anast. While I
was very sorry to hear about what happened, I know what its like to have
a big obstacle all of a sudden break into your life, and I know that you
will overcome this. If you remember, I know exactly what its like to
have to learn to walk again and don't worry, it might be slow at first,
but you'll get there, along with everything else falling into place.
I've run 2 triathlons with one leg and once you get back on your feet
you'll be able to do anything you put your mind to as well. My prayers
are with you brother.

The latest progress on Keith is below, thanks Jen! -Brad
Hi. I haven't done this for a while because I didn't have a whole lot of information besides..he's ok, he's doing well in his therapy...
But, I've spoken in more length to Linda, and now that Joel is there, I know he'll give me a great summary.
The other night Linda told me that Keith is sitting up by himself, moves himself to the chair by himself. He can get around in his wheelchair by himself. They had him take his first steps the other day, and said he did pretty well. That's basically what they are working on now in therapy. Getting him literally, on his feet again.
His conversational skills have improved VERY much. Most of the time he's making accurate sentences, while sometimes he can't find the word, which is totally normal, and something even more promising, is that he knows when he uses an incorrect word, and gets pissy. :) He keeps trying though.
Joel said that when he walked in to the therapy floor that Keith is staying on, that Keith (Rel, you'll be able to picture this) was sitting out in the open area where there is a big table, and people just sit around it and chat. It's right next to the nurses station, so I'm sure he was intending on picking up on some nurses!! Anyway-Joel said that Keith's face just lit up, and he held out his hand for a handshake. No pauses...That's one thing that everyone needs to remember, Keith's memory is completely in tact. The only reason he didn't remember certain things was because he was so lethargic, and because his brain took a beating! But, everyday, they say, he's getting better and better.
Linda said that he is VERY assertive in his therapy, and a week or two ago told one of his therapists " I want to walk and talk again".
That's basically all there is to know. His health is good.
I'll write you guys again after I see him when we go up there next weekend. Lamont is becoming an Officer (YAY LAMONT) in the Navy, so we'll be there for the commissioning, and will go see Keith for a day or so. I know Lamont really would love for Keith to be there, so keep your fingers crossed, I'm pretty sure he'll be out of the therapy center by then. We'll see.
Take care everyone, and remember what a miracle this has been. xoxo

Keith:
I hope things are going better for you. Sometimes this world and God's plan
seem so funky. Why do bad things happen to such good people? I have to
believe there is a greater meaning in everything, and sometimes it takes a
long, long time to realize what he's trying to teach us. I have thought
about you and what your family must be going thru very often and I pray that
God gives them and you the strength to pull through all of this.
I remember when my sister Teresa had her accident. It was her 3rd day of
school at Nebraska, on a full swim scholarship, and she was on her way to
practice on her bike and was hit by a bus. We were so fortunate that her
injuries were not more extensive but her foot was awful and eventually she
had to give up swimming. At the time, we all felt like it was so horrible
and we couldn't understand the meaning behind it. Then I came across this
book about Angels and there was this quote from it...
"Why are people born blind?"
and the angel said, "To learn to see with inside your eyes."
"Why are people born deaf?"
and the angel said, "TO learn to listen from their heart."
"Why are people born with disfigurements and why do people lose limbs?
And the angel said, "To learn to be whole from within, not without."
And so my nine toed sister with a mangled foot is far more whole than she
ever was before despite all that she lost and had to give up.
I know it probably seems unfair, and at times, difficult to keep pushing to
get better but I know you will pull through all of this and I know this
experience will only strengthen you inside and out.
My warmest wishes for a speedy recovery - Chrissy Mauck

Keith,
You probably do not remember us. Michael and your Dad were in the same
fraternity. In our past we met you and Rachael. We were so sorry to hear of your
medical problem, but understand from our news source, as well as this website,
that you are beginning to mend and find your way back. Please be assured
that there are numerous individuals and families (some you know as well as some
that you can't even begin to imagine) who are holding you up in prayer and are
wishing you a speedy recovery. Knowing your parents as we do, we are
confident you have their drive and will strive to make a full recovery in record time.
Let your Mom and Dad know that we were in contact and wish them well and
strength, just as we wish the same to you.

Below is the latest updates from Uly.-Brad
I prayed and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Here's a brief update on Keith from the past 5 days.
Tuesday 11-25
Keith slept most of the day and wasn't very active. The doctors and nurse explained it was normal because he is still healing.
Wednesday 11-26
He was in and out of sleep all day between therapy. The biggest news was his physical therapist was happy Keith stood up with minimal assistant.
Thursday 11-27
His family rolled him into the Cafeteria for a great Thanksgiving dinner. As usual, Keith was the light of the party
Friday 11-28
Keith was very active and participated well in physical and speech therapy. He also build a lot of endurance. His family, Lizet and I took him to the
patio and spoke with him for a good three hours (He's slowly but surely coming along in his speech). As we stood out there, one of Keith Doctors
passed by and was extremely happy that he looked awake and alert. Keith speech therapist came by and started testing a bit. Unfortunately, Keith
couldn't stay awake because he used up all his endurance staying up with us fir three hours. However, he manage to remember his therapist name when she
asked (which I couldn't remember at the time).
Saturday 11-29
Keith allowed Lizet to but some Coco butter lotion on his back, arms, and face. In between the message he watched the Gator game. Lizet threw a
sponge Bob football at him and they started playing catch. After 5 minutes, he asked me to go out for a long pass. For 15 minutes we played catch.
That was awesome. He also enjoyed the love and attention he got from Kristin Wehmeyer visit.
Sunday 11-30
He got some more of TLC from Lamont and Scott Fuller in the morning. The biggest story here I think is Lizet took some pictures in the morning of his
place and car and recognized 90% of his stuff. We asked he several yes or no questions and he was 95% correct. We also asked to identify what's in
the picture such as bed, sofa, car, and TV. He said all of it correctly.
As for what the doctors and their analysis, we won't know until later this week.

Keith -
I'm glad to hear that you're on your way. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers. It's times like these that just put everything in perspective. You are truly blessed. The outpouring of support for you and your family has been incredible, but not surprising. Good people attract the same. Use all of this support as your fuel during your recovery and keep the faith. We all look forward to seeing you up and around again real soon. I get the sense that LA is just not the same without you at full strength.

Below is an update I received from Jenny on Sunday, she flew out to LA on Friday for Keith's birthday.-Brad
Hi guys. Just a brief update since the computer at the hospital is 90 years old and has a blurry screen that is making my eyes bleed to death.
Keith is sleeping right now. We're at Daniel Freeman hospital, which is known for it's wonderful physical therapy program.
Keith is improving more everyday. He is pretty lethargic today, and yesterday, which is quite normal after having been in bed for two weeks. The program he is in is very aggressive Monday thru Friday. So, tmw, he'll get busy. He had some therapy today, and that involved him getting in the wheel chair and trying to move around the floor a little bit. He isn't really wanting to right now, but it's because he's very weak. The more they get him up to do this, he'll get more and more energized.
His right side is still pretty motionless, but yesterday I was pinching him and he moved his leg a couple times and his toes too.. So, he has feeling, it just needs to be moved around a lot to get the blood flow back in action.
He's talking here and there. He knows that sometimes he doesn't make sense with the words he's using, so he getting a little pissy. He just shakes his head like, "geezz...you don't understand what I'm saying..forget it." But, we're encouraging him not to stop talking because of that. Sometimes he's interested in looking at pictures..sometimes he just wants to rest. The therapists have high hopes, and so do we. We know that he's going to be fine. It just takes work and perseverance, which Keith has an overfill of.
He's still Keith. If anyone is wondering. He still has his memory. We know it. For sure. He remembers our faces, and he's still smiling about our little jokes. We were telling him that we're going to shave him today or tmw, since he has a little bit of a beard and hairy arms and legs, which Keith can't stand. Uli told him that he was going to comb over his "two hairs" (if you don't know, Keith has issues with his balding) and he just SMILED hugely.
It was great. He smiled at his Sponge Bob birthday card that Rachael and Kevin gave him, and Brad's birthday card with the sexy woman on the front. He sang Happy Birthday twice on his birthday with us...he actually sang along, so he remembers those words.
He had quite a birthday celebration. He had a birthday cake and there were about 15 of his friends in the room. He was happy. Lots of smiles and high fives/hand shakes.
I was just telling Lamont that last night cracked us up. I was sitting next to him and he looked over at me and puckered up the left side of his face. I said, "do you want a kiss?" He shook his head. So, I kissed him and he said, "Good night." The same thing with Rachael after that, and then we asked him, Do you want us to leave? And he said, "Yeah"....... So, we said, OK! And headed out. He's being assertive about what he wants even if what he says doesn't make sense. He's been watching football and basketball..
He's so Precious.
I asked him a few minutes ago.."Does this suck or what?" And he looked at me and said, Yes.
We're encouraging him, and he knows that he has lots and lots of friends pulling for him. He's not alone in this at all. Ron was here yesterday. He definitely knew who Ron was. Every few minutes he'd look over at Ron and nod his head. You know, the "what's up" nod. Cracks me up.
There are so many other little things he's doing that show that Keith is still totally in tact. I want everyone to know that. He's eating well..
The other day, they did this exercise with him. The wrote down words and then laid out pictures of the words. He matched them all exactly. So, he knows how to read. The doctors keep saying "It's all in there"... He just needs some help finding how to express it again. That's exactly what he's getting here!
So, it's going great. I have no doubts in my mind about Keith having a complete recovery. This program is 21 days long. After that he'll be evaluated regarding what's to come.
Prayers are fueling this recovery, so don't stop. !!!! :) God is good. And he's been good to Keith.
We love all of you, and are telling Keith daily that everyone is thinking about him.

Birthday boy,
Don't think you're getting out of this one bud. We're going to have an incredible celebration when you get out. On an aside, since I'm such a good friend, I've taken the liberty of driving 'The Black Dragon' around town these last couple of weeks. Purely from an up keep stand point of course, so the decrongitator valves and the clutch carb injector stems don't get clogged. There were already over 200,000 miles on this pup when you bought it, right?
Happy 30th Keith.

Great news you're movin' out of the ICU! Though perhaps the 'Wood (as the
locals say) is not your preferred locale to recuperate, it does work out
splendidly that I work so closeby. I'll be making a few calls to check on
the visiting policy and will be sure to stop by on my way home from office
space.
Thinking about you. Lots of love, Kristin

Keith,
Great news to hear that you are out of the ICU! (However, you did stifle my
plans for a 2004 "Men of the ICU" Calendar). I KNEW, somehow, you would
recover from this faster and stronger than the common, mortal man! My
thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and friends (even Ortiz)
daily.
Your strength and perseverance will guide you through - I believe this with
all my heart. Please continue your quick recovery - when you are well, you
will be even stronger.
Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable
will. - Mahatma Gandhi

Keith, Like I said before, we all plan on being at the first game of the season next year with you. Sperry will actually break out of his normal Polo shirt and khakis to don the wifebeater and 20in chain around his neck. If any of us ever knew someone who could beat this it is you and our prayers are behind you every day. Keep up the inspiration. "A man is not finished when he is defeated, he is finished when he quits" and that is one thing I have always admired about you, the "can-do" attitude that anything can be done. By reaching for the impossible, we achieve the best possible. Get better daily. -Sperry

Hi Keith:
Jack and Ronnie Singer here (Amie's folks). You recall we met you in LA and then you joined us for Thanksgiving in the Valley. Keith, during those two meetings it became clear to us that you are a genuinely good man, with a kind heart and soul. That is why God has listened to all those prayers that have burst forth in your behalf. We are sure you will make a complete recovery and will find meaning in this terrible event, so that it will impact your future in a very positive way! We can't wait to see you again.

Drogs,
We are so happy to see you getting better. I have been in contact with your father since the first day he knew about your situation. I have talked to him everynight since he has been in LA and the news just gets better and better. The greatest news I heard from your dad was when he told me, "It took two nurses to restrain him" You have lots of people praying and wishing for your speedy recovery. Glad to see you are getting out of the hospital. Now go and kick around the physical therapists!
Morris, Hana, Corrine, Golan and Sabrina all send you their prayers and wishes. See you soon buddy!

Keith,
You are so strong and I know you will pull through this. It is so great to
hear how well your recovery is going. When I first was told all Skip and I
could talk about was how strong of a man you are and if we ever knew anyone
who had the strength to overcome something like this it was you. You are in
all of our thoughts and prayers every single moment. Your drive to succeed
and be the best in life is second to no one. The year that we were roommates
after UF was one of the best years of my life. Your work ethic(Tech Data at
the time) was so unbelievable. So many of your strong positive qualities has
help me become such a better person. You are in so many ways " A HERO" an
inspiration to us all!! Stay strong, stay confident, keep your faith.
Sincerely, Gabe

Hey Keith,
You better get well quick! You know it's only a matter of time before I
invade the streets of Droganalas. I need my running mate at full speed for
the next time we stomp into the W Hotel, hit the gym or watch the old
Saturday Night Live episodes. I know that this is just another bridge, and
I, along with everyone else, know exactly what you are going to do to it.
Your enthusiasm and energy are an inspiration in the life of each person who
knows you. I look forward to hanging with you again real soon. Until then, I
will remain as always...

I just got another update from Uly, Keith sure isn't wasting any time on the road to recovery.-Brad Bond
11-18 Tuesday
This was the day the Doctor shared that Keith is living proof of God's work.
The main doctor had a 20 minute meeting with Ray, Linda, and Rachel and explained to them his recommendation of Re-hab center. He shared with the family something he would usually not share," usually a person in Keith condition only has a 10% chance to live something beyond our control helped him to wake up and stay alive." Ray than explained to the doctor that a lot
of people have been praying and he's sure that helped. The doctor agreed. The doctor also shared with Ray that three days ago he gave Ray a list of re-hab centers to choose from. The list he gave was mostly nursing homes for Keith. At the time he thought Keith would need assistant living for awhile. However, he realized today his health has improved tremendously and recommends an aggressive rehab center to get him back on his feet for full recovery. The rehab center he recommended is Steven Freeman in Inglewood, California.
11-19 Wednesday
Another proof of God's work.
Ray Finally spoke with the Neurologist (Brain Doctor). The Neurologist explained to Ray they reviewed the last cat scan taken 5 day ago and were searching for 3 critical health issues. He further explained they didn't find any of the 3 critical health issues, which they were
surprised (It must be those prayers, kind of a theme this week). They expect him to get of ICU by Thursday or Friday and head straight to the re-hab center.
11-20 Thursday
He's out of ICU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning at 7AM he got of ICU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They moved Keith to room 702A temporarily and expect him to be transferred to Steven Freeman by this afternoon (I'll e-mail the address once I get it).
If anybody had doubts if God really exist, Keith is living proof God answers prayers (Even his doctor now believes in prayers).

Keith,
There are a lot of people who know you and who do not know you that are praying for you. A lot of people are praying and supporting you here in Florida and across the globe. This has got to boost your ego a little, but you are worthy of it. You are a good man Keith. Your love that you have for your friends and family is displayed on this site. Keep the faith and love the lord and your strength will increase 10 fold as you have realized that by now. You are one of the strongest men that we know and we have no doubt that you will pull through and conquer yet another mission in your life. You can not quit as we need you to grow old with us. On the lighter side, I need you so that you and I can harass each other with our "male-pattern baldness".
WE love you Keith and pray for you and your family,

Here's the latest update on Keith, I hope the good news continues! Can we get this guy some protein or what?-Brad Bond
It seems that everyday we pray for Keith's health he gets spiritually, mentally and physically stronger. When I walked into the room yesterday (Monday), he looked back to normal. In my eyes it was Keith just chillin in bed in a upright position. All the tubes are out and he just had the IV on his right arm. He also ate his first real meal. After he finish he asked for real
food and asked the nurse, "can you give me meat." Later that day he was asking his parents and all who visited to take him home. The most memorable action that Keith did according to his parents and other witnesses, he grabbed the Bible form his mothers hand and kissed it. It was a great moment for all of us.
As of this morning (Tuesday), he asked the nurse and myself if he can leave so he can get back to his life. I believe with a little therapy we have our Keith back.
The doctors are very excited that he can speak slowly in full sentences and can move his left side and a bit of his right arm. The doctors are meeting sometime today in the morning to discuss what types of therapy he would need and which rehab center they recommend he get his therapy.
So that's the latest news. Keep praying because it's working!

Man, words can't describe how relieved we all are knowing you're doing better. Talk about feeling anxious... You had us PC boys worried. I sent you a letter for you and your parents to read so keep an eye out for it. You have and always will make an impact on people around you. Your resilience and upstanding nature are a true fact of who you are and what you represent. You're one of a kind and we have no doubt you'll beat this thing. Keep up the fight; we're all in your corner and thinking about you everyday

Update from Uly:
I just want to say to everyone that God does answer
prayers. I received a call from Ayal with-in hours I sent
the last e-mail about Keith stating his first complete
sentence. It took us all awhile to figure out what he was
saying but we finally did. We all know Keith as a person
that lives life to the fullest and has a passion in making
every living moment count one way or the other. For this
reason, he was commanding us with love, " I want you to
have a life."
Here's a man who is in ICU and he's worried about us having
a life. This is no ordinary man, he is a true angel and
friend and we're all lucky we know him and have him as
part of our lives. After we took in what he said, we had
similar response and expressed to him we do have lives and
he's a big part of it. Keep praying for God is listening
to all of us!

Drogs As I expected you appear to be winning this battle, as you do all of them, except those against me. Seriously I expect nothing less from you. You have always been one to face challenges head on and succeed. I know you will win this one especially since you still owe me a trip to the Northeast, which you better not forget because that would be a dangerous precedent you do not want to start. The amount of support that I have seen really shows how much you have contributed to each of our lives. Keep up the speedy recovery because you know everyday your down is one more day that I get stronger. You are in Vince and my prayers; we look forward to hearing from you soon.

KD -
Your friend who put this site together is awesome. I'm sure you know by
now that everyone is thinking about you every day and hoping for you to
get better as soon as possible. With your strength and determination I
have no doubt that that will come soon.
I want you to know that I, and all of our LA crew, miss you so much. We
are looking forward to seeing you as soon as we get the green light for
more visitors at the hospital. In the meantime, I'll be thinking of
you.
Lots of love,
Kristin

Drogs, Drog-Angeles, Bateman:
(All self-appointed nicknames),
Glad to hear you doing so well in your recovery. You would be proud to know about the unbelievable outpouring of concern for you here in Florida. Everyday, my inbox is full of messages for and about you. We look forward to having you back up and around. Believe it or not, we miss your nonsensical emails and scatted wit. I can't wait to hear about what was going through you mind during your "sleepy time". Get well soon, Brother Drogan!

Keith and the rest of the Drogan family,
Happy to hear that you are doing so much better. I hope knowing that you
have so many friends who are praying and wishing you well, gives you some
support. I'm sorry I haven't seen you in a few years, but its been pretty
interesting hearing about the adventures of Drogangeles.
We went to the Gator game in South Carolina this weekend. You didn't miss
anything. If Lou Holtz hadn't done his level best to blow the game by going
with a fake punt on his own 30 yard line with 2 minutes left in the 3rd
quarter and being up by two points, everyone in the Gator Nation would be
talking about how we blew the game. We escaped 24-22 (after trailing at
halftime 16-7). I really miss the days when we could blow out teams and
finish games. I am still not a Ron Zook believer.
Let me tell you a little about what I've been up to the past couple of
years. I'm living in Orlando, I'm married to Cari Rocker a KD at Florida
(Kauffman says that I should've taken her name), we both live and work in
downtown, and I've got my picture in the Yellow Pages (its in my boss' ad,
not my name...give me a few more years). I'm doing all plaintiffs personal
injury work, which I absolutely love, because I get paid to help people who
really need my help.
Life here is pretty peaceful and my favorite recent purchase outside of
cigars is the Honda mulching mower I bought to suck up and shred leaves.
The only thing I hate about Orlando is that there's no beach. I hope you're
doing better when this email reaches you. I'm really looking forward to the
celebration that will take place both here in Orlando, and around the
country when the Drogangeles comeback tour rolls into town. If Cbox hasn't
already started planning it I'll be surprised. Whether you feel like going
crazy like the old days or just want to sit back and smoke a fine havana,
give me a call.
Take care and know that we're thinking about you and your family, and you
are all in our prayers.

I've pasted the latest updates on Keith below, but you've already received
the Saturday update through a friend of a friend. Keith's progress has
been no less than amazing. But then again, those of us that know Keith
well can just shrug our shoulders knowing Keith has the determination to
overcome such adversity. In case you didn't know, Keith will be turning
the big 30 this Friday, November 21st. A friend (Jenny) of ours is
flying out of Tampa Friday morning to be with Keith for his birthday and
will deliver any cards I can get to her by Thursday night. If you'd like
to mail a card to me (address below), I'll be glad to get it to her. If
you can't get it in the mail by Monday or Tuesday, you could create an
e-card birthday greeting and send that to me. I'll print it out, and get
it to her later this week. Before I found out she was going, I was
nervous about my card not reaching Keith and getting lost at the hospital
since he should be moving out of ICU in the next day or two. I'd like to
be able to give Jenny a ton of cards and/or e-cards to deliver to Keith
and his family, so please forward on.

It's seems everyday Keith is fighting a good fight and
surprising doctors. There has been three major developments
that look promising to a quick recovery. First, Friday
morning the nurse found him wide awake and looking around.
Second, , the doctors decided to take the tubes out of his
mouth which were helping him breath because it seems he's
now breathing on his own. Third, he is recognizing family
and friends visiting and responding to some questions by
nodding his head. At some points of the conversation he was
trying to speak but couldn't because the tubes where in for
6 days which stretch his vocal cords. Actually there is
four great developments, lastly, the doctors are expecting
to get him out of ICU by Monday or Tuesday. It seems all
your prayers and thoughts are being answered.
As far as looks, he still looks "preshus!"
On Saturday afternoon, Keith continue to have his eyes open
and blood pressure normal. The big news of that day is he
was trying to talk to all who visited, which is awesome.
We couldn't exactly make out what he was trying to say but
he's making the effort. The second big news is he
remembered our faces and names and what week it was. During
one of his father's visit he tried to communicate with him
verbally. His father figured out that Keith wanted to make
sure his cousin that was getting married on Saturday knew
he wasn't going to be able to make it. That's great new to
all of us.
These are a couple of things we should be praying for:
1. Keith's blood pressure continues to be normal
2. That his kidney works at 100% instead of 25%, so they
won't need to do any surgery
3. Also, have his vocal cords not hurt him when he tries
to speak. This will help him to try to speak to us some
more.

To all,
I spoke to Keith's Dad again this afternoon. His family is hanging in
there. They are requesting that no one fly out to visit him until they
can move him out of the ICU into a ward room. Then, there won't be
limitations on visitors (right now, they're limiting to two at a time).
Keith continues to have ups and downs but overall, I believe he has
trended up. His blood pressure and kidneys are the main things keeping
him in the ICU. He was able to respond appropriately to his neurologist
today by nodding his head yes and no. He still cannot speak which is
concerning considering where the bleed was. His boss whispered something
in his ear last night and he attempted a smile.
Continue to send him messages, he gets them/people are reading them to
him. Please continue to pray.

To all,
Sorry for such a late email. I'm now at my parent's in Dallas on a week
leave. While in Houston I received a voice mail from Mr. Drogan. Keith
was extubated today and is no longer on the ventilator. However, he
becomes very anxious at times elevating his blood pressure. He has been
put back on blood pressure drips (to avoid restarting the bleed) and has
once again been sedated. The good news is that he can breathe on his own.
His dad did not relay whether or not Keith can talk. In between being
extubated and then resedated, Keith once again gave the thumbs up to
everyone.
There are two things concerning. One, all of his motions have been with
the left side of his body. He has not made any motions with his right side
(this makes since due to the insult to his left brain). Hopefully, with
resolution of the clot, physical and occupational therapy Keith will be
able to regain function of his right side. The most important thing now
is to get his blood pressure under control, get his kidneys functioning
and get him out of the ICU. The last thing he needs is to lay in bed and
contract pneumonia (the ICU is full of terrible bugs). These are the
goals for now.
Just so you know, I bet most of us have never laid in bed for an entire
week. Knowing how much energy Keith has, you can imagine how
irritating/exacerbating that could be. In addition, he's probably having
some realization of what has happened to him.
One of his friends in LA has come up with a great idea. Please type a
message to Keith and send it to me and I will forward it on. They will
take the messages, print them out and read them to Keith when they visit.
Keep praying,
HUDKINS
