No copyright notice is required, as per the Berne Convention. Any original work a person creates(*) is automatically considered to be owned by said person as soon as it is rendered in some physical version. (In other words, one must write or print out text or record a song on some medium or paint a picture on a canvas--it can't just be in one's head.)

(*)--Unless they created it while working as an employee or contractor of someone else, then it becomes less clear...
