Lee 89:29 in 2003 :-)

Hmm, looks like my record has fallen. The overall fastest time on the Psychology Society Team goes to:

Michael Crisp 47:50 (age 12, Do you believe that?)

The fastest student member of the team was Ms. Lisa Hutton, with a smoking 55 :23 ,

The fastest faculty member was Dr. Wayne Podrouzek not far behind.

The Kwantlen University Psychology Society team, came in 33rd out of 48 teams. (based on top ten finishers on the team -- 14 of our 22 registered members showed up on a very beautiful Vancouver Sun Run Day.)

UBC Computer Geeks and Engineering came in # 1 and # 2. It appears that all other University College teams placed higher than the Kwantlen Psychology Society...so a goal for next year could be to overtake one or more of these teams. Hmmm, since many placed in the top ten, it would seem a monumental goal, but what the heck, we have a goal. :-) Maybe Lee will be available next year to do a little training.

Still we were in better physical condition than 15 other teams this year. So not bad for our first time out as a team. Thank you and kudos go to all of you who participated. All of the members of the Psychology Society are proud of you for sure. All 191 registered members. Your own self acceptance and self confidence for giving it a go is noteworthy for sure!

Have a great summer, don't drink and drive, get a job, travel somewhere-anywhere for a day if nothing else.

See you in the fall.

Cheers,

Lee Woodson, (Former Faculty advisor Psychology Society 2003-04)

p.s. Don't forget that Dr. Arleigh Reichl and Dr. Farhad Dastur are the Faculty Advisors of the Society for 2004-2005

Dr Crisp Comments:

You know Lee, I suspect that other corporate teams selected on the basis of having a fast running speed to start with. We, however, selected on the basis of being the nicest, most intelligent and friendly people. Our criteria stand above mere competitivness for speed. Chug on Psychology!

Ideas for todays talk.../ demo and next Tuedays talk in Richmond

Good morning...and welcome to session on the Psychology Society KLOG efforts here at Kwantlen.  I hope you find the information of interest and perhaps find a use for a blog or klog over the summer.

If you do a search engine quiry for terms such a xml, rss, movable type, Scott Young, Scott Leslie, Bruce Landon's blog from Douglas College, blogs, blogscanada, etc. you will find lots to read.

If you prefer, (this was my choice) scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the Radio Userland link and download a 30 day free copy to play around with.

Websites and blogs that provide news about research are the ones that I am interested in.  There a tons of so called Vanity blogs out there, which are really personal journals on-line and you might enjoy these also.

Today we will just scratch the surface, but ten minutes each morning or once a week can allow you to publish your own personal sydicated news from rss.xml feeds from all around the world using the automatic aggregator on your blog.  An aggregator works for you will you sleep.

Cheers,

Lee

Drug Firms Withheld Negative Data. Drug companies withheld information showing antidepressants were ineffective and could be harmful to children and should have issued warnings on their products, researchers said on Friday. Health authorities in Britain and the United States have voiced concern or advised doctors not to prescribe the drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors ...
