To live 3 days in company of some 10'000 people attending this event is quiet an experience, it opens my mind and my hearth like no other places. Dozen of meditations guided by many different interesting people coming from around the world, debates on spiritual and healing subjects, various point of view from Doctors and from talented Healers, demonstrations, music, dance... lot of love around!I started to identify a "common sense" everywhere, in every book presented, every philosophy, every belief every techniques. It is the ultimate goal of this weblog to show this common ground and help human's journey toward awarness.I had also another mission to accomplish: I was looking for as many info as possible on my spiritual guide, a healer called Tom Johanson that died on 2002 and that I met for the first time early 2004 through a medium in Lugano. I was so happy being able to talk with dear friends of him and being able to explain them the real reasons of my curiosity. We all live an amazing time of change!

>home:maxlog.ch >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, publishing, swisspresence, exhibit, culture>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Maxlog: the common sense in spiritual matters.Maxlog: il comune senso della ricerca spirituale.]

RTSI - Mondi Vicini

RTSI - Mondi ViciniA rich collection of audio and visual streaming media based on the work of Werner Weick (on picture) and his spiritual path: the Monte Verità, Hermann Hesse, Raimon Panikkar, among other very interesting documentaries.
Massimo D'Onofrio
>home:chezmax.com >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, virtual, swisspresence, vrway, venue, exhibit>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Max's log: the ultimate spiritual exploration linksite.]

The Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) - Il Disturbo Affettivo Stagionale

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) - Il Disturbo Affettivo StagionaleWhat is Seasonal Affective Disorder? Some people suffer from symptoms of depression during the winter months, with symptoms subsiding during the spring and summer months. This may be a sign of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). SAD is a mood disorder associated with depression episodes and related to seasonal variations of light.SAD was first noted before 1845, but was not officially named until the early 1980[base ']s. As sunlight has affected the seasonal activities of animals (i.e., reproductive cycles and hibernation), SAD may be an effect of this seasonal light variation in humans. As seasons change, there is a shift in our [base "]biological internal clocks[per thou] or circadian rhythm, due partly to these changes in sunlight patterns. This can cause our biological clocks to be out of [base "]step[per thou] with our daily schedules. The most difficult months for SAD sufferers are January and February, and younger persons and women are at higher risk.Symptoms Include: regularly occurring symptoms of depression (excessive eating and sleeping, weight gain) during the fall or winter months.Full remission from depression occur in the spring and summer months.Seasonal episodes substantially outnumber nonseasonal depression episodes.A craving for sugary and/or starchy foods.Possible Cause of this Disorder: Melatonin, a sleep-related hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain, has been linked to SAD. This hormone, which may cause symptoms of depression, is produced at increased levels in the dark. Therefore, when the days are shorter and darker the production of this hormone increases.Treatments: Phototherapy or bright light therapy has been shown to suppress the brain[base ']s secretion of melatonin. Although, there have been no research findings to definitely link this therapy with an antidepressant effect, many people respond to this treatment. The device most often used today is a bank of white fluorescent lights on a metal reflector and shield with a plastic screen. For mild symptoms, spending time outdoors during the day or arranging homes and workplaces to receive more sunlight may be helpful. One study found that an hour[base ']s walk in winter sunlight was as effective as two and a half hours under bright artificial light. If phototherapy doesn[base ']t work, an antidepressant drug may prove effective in reducing or eliminating SAD symptoms, but there may be unwanted side effects to consider. Discuss your symptoms thoroughly with your family doctor and/or mental health professional. For More Information: Contact your local Mental Health Association, community mental health center, or:National Mental Health Association2001 N. Il ritorno di Werner Weick. Eppure accompagna tutti i nostri passi.

>home:chezmax.com >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, virtual, swisspresence, vrway, venue, exhibit>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Max's log: the ultimate spiritual exploration linksite.]

The Tibetan Book of Dead and other related topics

The Tibetan Book of Dead and other related topics.
Related Topics: Buddhist art and ritual fromNepal and Tibet; photos of Tibet in the 1940s;dissecting the mandala; mandalaand temple sacred architecture in Tibet; mandala sand painting; early Tibetanmandalas; Buddhist sculpture and paintings; the NorbulingkaInstitute.
[TIBET HOUSE SWITZERLAND FOUNDATION]
>home:chezmax.com >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, virtual, swisspresence, vrway, venue, exhibit>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Max's log: the ultimate spiritual exploration linksite.]

 TIBET HOUSE SWITZERLAND FOUNDATION

The Five Types of Dreams

The Five Types of Dreams. Wikipedia.com

Spirituality may include belief in supernatural powers, as in religion, but the emphasis is on experience. What is referred to as "religion" and what is referred to as "spirituality" are often the same. In recent years, "spirituality" has often carried connotations of the believer's faith being more personal, less dogmatic, more open to new ideas and myriad influences, and more pluralistic than the faiths of established religions. Those given to speaking of "spirituality" rather than "religion" are apt to believe that there are many "spiritual paths" and that there is no objective truth about which is the best path to follow.Others hold that spirituality is not religion, per se, but the active and vital connection to a force, power, or sense of the deep self. Some proponents of spirituality believe that the goal of 'being spiritual' is to simultaneously improve one's wisdom, willpower and communion with God/universe, which necessitates the removal of illusions at the sensory, feeling and thinking aspectes of a person. The 'Plato's cave' analogy in book VII of The Republic is one of the most well known descriptions of the spiritual development process.Other spiritual proponents point out that that spirituality is a two-stroke process. The upward stroke relates to inner growth and the downward stroke relates towards manifesting improvements in the world/reality around us as a result of the inward change. The rule of thumb when evaluating any spiritual approach is that six months of dilligent, proper practice should manifest noticeable improvement in one's life. If not, then the usual advice is to pick an approach that is more likely to assist you in achieving your specific goals. Some spiritual communities who might be considered to be more spiritual than religious include New Age, Neopaganism, Feminism, Subud,Unitarian Universalism, The Dances of Universal Peace From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
>home:chezmax.com >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, virtual, swisspresence, vrway, venue, exhibit>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Max's log: the ultimate spiritual exploration linksite.]

The dark side, by Massimo D'Onofrio

It is hard to write about my personal experience on this sensible subject, but if I want to start an open and constructive discussion I have to expose myself. Our dark side is evolving with ourself, therefore, I can start talking about my past only, but keep in mind it is a neverending exercise. But let me start with some basics. How to recognize our dark side? It is quiet simple: it represent all what we hate and dispise on other's behaviour (the psy term is "what we project out").How to recognize if someone has a long or a short road ahead to walk in order to reach a precarius balance between dark&light sides? The less tolerant we are, the longer our road is!When the dark side start to build up on us? As soon as we define our carachter, we naturally tend to push our dark side away from us, starting believing in an hypotetical perfection to reach as soon as possible. In my case, I can say during my puberty I started developping a sense of repulsion to some of my friends that look very snob and materialistic to me. Now I know that the hate I felt was towards myself, and that I can be very much like them. In fact, as soon as I realized that, I started to play with my dark-side in a way that makes me strong and energetic attending formal parties and events. I play my role so good I am amazed by my own performance during the act itself! The same happens in competitive sports, like Tennis. An entire hour of Mr. Ego at top push me to fight like a lion... and when I loose... it makes me laugh! How comes?! It must be a mistake (not by me of course) maybe the court is not so flat, or the ball is bad, or the sun is too strong ... well, you see.Another similar example are business transactions: I am so bold that sometimes, when I laugh (about me) during a meeting, my opponent thinks I must be so convinced of my position that I take him/her not so seriously... I can read their body & facial expressions so well: they start to hate my self-esteem, but soon they start ask themself why they are not so bold and start to doubt their position. You can imagine the closure of the deal!I feel so good playing that "shark" role because I know myself and I have learned how to take energy from it without losing control (and without harming no-one) but it is not something I suggest to anyone starting the inner process!Ok, enough for tonight. I look forward for some comment and/or your experiences!bye, max ;-)
>home:chezmax.com >keywords: soul, spiritual, spirituality, exploration, holistic, healing, jung, lugano, switzerland, virtual, swisspresence, vrway, venue, exhibit>submit by: Massimo D'Onofrio [Max's log: the ultimate spiritual exploration linksite.]

Art Musings: Frida Kahlos

I must admit that I hardly new anything about this great mexican painter, until I saw the movie 'Frida'.
