Upgraded connectivity
Here's another piece from Opto 22. It has added Modbus/Serial, Modbus/TCP and DF1 Integration Kits for its ioProject software. These tools are free and offer a way to connect Ethernet-based Opto 22 programmable automation controllers to those networks. Its previous brains and controllers were only innately capable of serving as Modbus/TCP "slave" devices, now these kits allos easy connection and communication with Modbus devices from Schneider Automation and other vendors, while the DF1 integration kit enables the same type of interface with Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC500 and other hardware that uses the DF1 protocol. The kits are available for download.

Special offers
I'm back home from Nashville and scanning my news sources. Here's some innovative consumer-type marketing from Invensys Process Systems/Foxboro. It is offering three limited time offers for users to sample some performance services. First is a control performance analysis provided for the first 50 plants that submit appropriate data by November 30, 2006. Next is one industrial WiFi wireless hot spot provided at no charge for customers who sign up for a paid wireless site assessment study by November 30, 2006. Or--third, elimination of up to 20 nuisance alarms at no charge for customers who sign up for a paid alarm management study by November 30, 2006. Details at this link.
